About Me

I am an "oldie" on here. I have been posting on these boards since November of 2001. I am an avid birdwatcher and photographer. I also enjoy gardening but I garden with a purpose and that is to draw birds. I have completely "birdscaped" our yard with incredible results. Flowers and berries are pretty but they don't become beautiful until they have a bird, hummingbird or butterfly on them.

One of my favorite quotes.

"Bird watching is a bloodless expression of mans primitive hunting instincts. We have substituted binoculars and cameras for the gun, but we still seek a trophy - A new species on a life list, or photographs of one of earths rarest and most exquisite creatures. Our search may take us no farther than a nearby meadow - Or it can lead to the cloud forests of tropical mountains."

Hi!  Thanks for your comments the other day (when I posted my hummer photo).  I live in Spring Lake Park which is very small.  It is by Blain, Fridley, & Moundsview.  We are a northern suburb of the cities.  We have friends who live in Afton by the St. Croix.  The grandma moved to Hudson to live in an assisted living apartment.  She is in her 90's!

Anyway, we are not too far from eachother.

Have a great weekend!  Angel

Your BE pic was just stunning!!  They hang around where I live alot and early last spring were watching for mice in the field across the road where they had just hauled out fresh cow manure with grain in it.  A pair sat in the trees at the end of our driveway and all I could get was a blur of one as they flew away.
My DH saw one pick up a skunk off the road one day when he was driving truck and as they made several trips past there, it sat in the field eating it!  Yuck!
Have you seen my post where I caught one in the act of waiting to pick up a newborn calf when I walked around a steep bank and scared it off?
It is amazing the comeback that they have made.

Hi Caty,

Yes, you were near to where I live.  Chippewa County.  Or maybe not, as I live on the eastern edge. LOL!!  Pat

Hi Caty, I noticed you don't have your Private Message settings turned on, so I am using the comment feature to reach you.

I am having major Internet connection issues. It could be next Monday before they are resolved.  Since you seem to be online around 12:00am EST.....would you start the Bird Picture of the Day thread if I can't get here?   I would greatly appreciate it and I know you would be wonderful as a "starter".
