Two weeks ago an almost all white with a few little black markings showed up on my feeder. i was so lucky to finally get a picture of it after waiting for hours. well since 2 two weeks ago it has not come back. can someone tell me if they,ve ever seen a hummingbird of these colors?
If you look on the Birds and Blooms site under Photo Challenge and type in Albino Hummingbirds under Search for Videos and Photos you'll see all the photos taken of Albino Hummingbirds. You might find one there also that has a bit of black on it, but not sure.
Leucistic hummingbirds (an abundance of leucocytes in the feathers resulting in a white appearance) is not unusual in hummingbirds and they are seen throughout the United States every year. We see two or three each year here in Texas. They generally do not survive more than the first year.
