Wilderness, I couldn't find the instructions for this Xmas tree ornament! A picture of it had been on the home page of B&B for several days, so I thought I could "search the archives," but all I came up with was where they said I wasn't a subscriber to B&B (I thought I was still getting it, have 2 issues to go) and so couldn't see the "extra" content. If I wanted to get a free copy of B&B and subscribe, I could give my name, email, etc. Huh.

Basically it was just painting a sturdy (no cracks in the shell) peanut like a ruby-throat, I guess. White on the underside, lime green topside, and ruby throat. Colors sort of blending into one another. The peanut was oriented with the ends up, rather than down, though they do bend somewhat in flight, so either might work. They'd used a part of a round toothpick for the beak, dots of black paint for the eyes, no tail that I can remember, and a bit of nylon mesh gathered up, maybe on a sewing pin, and stuck in the back for wings that look like they're flapping so fast you can barely see them. i think they specified a rectangle, maybe 4" x 2". It was pretty cute. Must've had a fine cord or thread to hold it. Toothpick, hanging cord and wing pin could be secured with a dot of glue, I guess.

Don't know if this helps much. I may try to make a few. Not sure where to get peanuts in the shell!

Tigsy -- I get peanuts in the shell at Wal-mart. Sometimes the bags, roasted, raw or salted are found on the beer aisle and most of the time I find them in the fresh vegetable area on one of the end caps.

I found the directions for the peanut hummingbird, but read where wilderness has already sent them to you. I was unable to find a picture, was one included with the information sent to you?

Hey, wilderness, would 'ya mind sending the information to me? I am rather courious and always have peanuts in the house because my parrots, DH & grand-kids love them. I'm not a subscriber to the BB site so am unable to access it there.

Wilderness, you dear soul! Thank you a thousand times! I'm going out today and see if I can find peanuts at Walmart (thanks also to Red). It is a cute idea, isn't it? One could look up in a bird ID book and make peanut-hummers in different varieties. What fun! Stewart, I checked out your suggested site -- yes, interesting. I once followed a link to YouTube videos of hummers feeding -- spent about half an hour watching that!

Happily,

Sorry about that! It told me three times it couldn't process my request! Confused So I gave up and tried another route, finding that I'd actually posted 3 time. Duh. Now, how do I get rid of the first two?

OK Tigs here goes.  First off you are welcome.  Now when you receive that message couldn't process just ignore it.  You post is posted but it doesn't take you back to the board.  Just go to the board and you will see it.  Now for deleting it is very simple.  You can only delete your own posts.  Go to your post and up next to reply you will see more.  Left click on that and there is a drop down box left click on delete.  Follow the instructions.  You do need to put a reason for deleting.  Just put duplicate.  Then there is a button at the bottom you have to click not sure what is says maybe delete or done.

Tigsy.  I can Confirm what Wilderness says, It happened to me some time ago. Before writing again I look at the board to see if it was posted. It happened to me Thursday, I ignored it and found that it was in its place.     Stewart.

I still seem unable to delete a couple of those pesky posts. Appreciate your comment, Stewart; I did manage to do that a week or 2 ago, but for some reason I believed the message this time!

When I click on More, the drop-down has only Send to a friend, Report abuse, Edit, Mark post as favorite, and Mark forum as favorite. Okay, I clicked on Edit. Sounded good. It got to what looked like a regular place to post, but here was my duplicate post. Fine. Can't see where to delete. Tried to erase the post, which worked. Then I hit post. Nothing changed on the discussion, still my 3 posts. What am I doing wrong?  Confused
