Good early morning.  It is 66 and still very dark.  Woke up very thirsty and now am wide awake.  It is 3:44 am.  Have not made it on here for the past few days.  Been very busy here.  We have had the perfect weather so far since I have been off work.  It always rain when I am off, but not this time.  Had a very little rain yesterday morning very early.  Been in the 70's I think, breezy and sunny.  Getting very tan.  Well we are moving right along with our projects.  We thought we would get them all done in 2 days, yeah right, guess we don't have wilderness's energy.  The retaining wall is about 1/2 done.  My new bird feeder area is about half done.  My nephew mowed for me yesterday.  He got sick of digging, so put him on my mower, did a great job for a 13 year old that never mowed with that kind of mower before, and that much lawn.  My neighbor/ friend came over late yesterday afternoon and helped me finish digging out the new bird feeder area.  They are the best friends.  Now today I think we are taking the day off from yard work.  We are shot.  Want to do something fun with my nephew before he goes home tomorrow.  And so he wants to come back again.  There is a vintage car show today we will go to, then think we will take the wheelers down the dirt roads for a ride.  He loves that stuff.  He lives in the cities and does not get to play with them.

Steep glad surgery went well.  Nice to have your DD there to help you.

Cathy sorry to hear about the shoulder.  This is a hard time of the year to take it easy.  Have fun at the casino.  That is a nice casino.

Tigsy the wedding is coming fast.

Sherry glad the windows are finally in, now hope the guy that is putting them in shows up.  Great the deck is getting done too.

Mary hope the birthday party for Katelyn was fun.

Ok I am going to try and go back to bed.  I think this is the second time I have ever opened, shocker.  Have a great day.

Morning all. Am tired. Just got out of the shower so do feel a bit better. Tried all day long yesterday to take a simple shower but never happened and just kept getting sweatier and dirtier.... Got lots done in the yard but need to water the back and the stump today somehow. No rain and murderous hot have done a number on me, the plants, and the dogs. Dogs refused to go outside from about 9am till around 7 last night. Yep, they held it....

Can't Roundup that pesky vine since it's all entangled with the rest of the jungle growing up and around the stump. Yep, have some amaranthus 7' tall and the same seed packet ones elsewhere are about a foot tall....just never know around here.

Cathy, those cannas are with elephant ears and learning 'stuff' from them. Each one has sprouted 2 babies so far and those are growing right along with them.....the tiny one has tiny babies and the huge ones have huge ones.

Yesterday morning I had a coniption fit. Yep, almost a Donald Duck dancing cussing fit. Went to Walmart, got a couple of bottles of calcium tablets, crunched them up along with some epsom salts and water and watered that tomato with the mess. The I got some super dooper stuff (got off my 'organic gardening' for a day) and sprayed the tomatoes and peppers with some 'bad' stuff supposed to kill those hornworms, other worms and caterpillars. Had to do it when the bees were elsewhere because it will kill them too. I found a perfectly good large green tomato with a tiny pinprick hole in it. Yep, a gray caterpillar was in there....feasting, growing and having a great time.....I've seen bugs this year I've never seen before and it seems all of them eat what I want to grow.

Except...I saw a tiny parisitic wasp (?) trying to fly off with a large fat caterpillar. She only succeeded in dragging it across the driveway. Wasp was maybe an inch long and caterpillar was about 3 inches long.....was funny to watch. Wish I had 1000 of those wasps....

Got too hot. Had to wash Harold (well, gotta' do that every few years when the windshield gets too cloudy to see out of....) yesterday since I go to Jackson to the VA tomorrow. Sun was merciless. Was using my floor mop, the hose, and dish detergent..... Was standing on the back bumper scrubbing his top (was super icky, sticky and dirty from parking him under the mimosa tree) , got dizzy and fell off. Luckily landed on hands and knees on the grass instead of the driveway. Got mad, rinsed him well and went in the house to cool off.

Couldn't stay in since I had the solar cooker going making refried beans from scratch. Takes all day long even in the house. Had plenty of 'solar' so did it that way. Turned out great and have some in the freezer and some to eat today. Fed it to Tom last night and he pronounced it better than the Mexican restaurant's stuff....wow...pat me on the back!

We've gotten 6 tomatoes so far. The skins are kind of thick and sort of crunchy. That's supposed to mean something concerning the weather but forgot what. Taste great tho'.

Tom came home by 3, very proud of himself. He'd bought a new power washer. A Husk-------however you spell it with a key start! Big mamer jammer too. Can put out 3500psi which will take paint off a house, car, or whatever he points it at. He's not allowed to wash my vehicles with that thing! And I own all 3. Bet it'll do the job on the carport and walkways tho'. Told him he'll have to hire himself out to pay for the thing. Getting it off the pickup was tricky but we did it....with a little thinking and a convenient  hole the dogs had dug in the yard.

Wilderness, did you drown in the pool?

Tigsy, soon the wedding will be over and all will be boring for a couple of days. (?)

Wendy, be sure to elevate your legs often. Find out if the diuretic they'll put you on is a potassium wasting one or not. If so, you'll need to take potassium supplements or eat a couple of bananas every day....

Denise, there's only so much one can do at once. It'll all still be there after you rest up a bit so take it easy and do it in smaller bits often instead of large bits.

Red, are they going to keep the pup?

Soon be light and haven't even checked email yet....today is Sunday. NO WORK !!!!!

Will have to water some and I know Tom will have to try out 'Lil Husky' today, but that will be play. Hope he doesn't aim the thing at the pepper patch.....

Today is a good day to rest. Hope everyone gets to. We've been working pretty hard all week in all the various endeavors, surgeries, doc visits, and such haven't we?

Good morning everyone.  A very nice 67 here and partly cloudy.  No humidity which is great.  Suppose to rain later on tonight and a cold front go through.  Suppose to only be in the 60's tomorrow.  What a change!!

Tony came yesterday and got all the posts cemented in and the framing is done.  I told him it has to be done by Wed because my windows are coming and they have to be able to walk on the deck to get the window in.  I think he will be putting on the deck boards today and maybe the railing, I dont know.  He could finish today if he got his butt moving!!  Not much left to do now.

Thats about all that is happening here.  Just enjoying my Timmys.

Wendy glad Stewart is doing okay.  Send him our best.

Take care everyone and have a great day.  Stay safe.

Good morning, friends. We're warming up here, 83 now, and the sun came out. The darned squirrels are digging in my planters in front! Do you think a few mothballs would keep them away? They've already dug in the yard where I've tried to fill in a few bare spots with grass seed. I've given them the whole dang heartnut tree this year, not even trying to save any for us, but they're dropping their shell nibblings in the lawn, which kills the grass. I want to wring their cute little necks! Super Angry

Sorry. (Deep breath.) I need to go rake the shells out of the lawn and put down the green nylon net I got for the purpose last year. Maybe by fall I can reseed the lawn under the tree. They started on the nuts so early, way before they're ripe, they caught me off guard.

Denise, glad your weather is nice – I read about Duluth. What a mess. Just remember, projects take at least twice as long as your most generous estimate. What a neighbor –to help you dig. Yeah, in 3 weeks the wedding'll all be over. I'm gonna cry, I know it. Probably all day long. Hope you got more sleep.

Brenda, I don't see how you can continue to garden there, it's so weird! 7-foot amaranth, sneaky caterpillers, peripatetic bulbs – I'd have a Donald Duck snit too. Or just go crazy. I've long said that for every veg/plant I want to grow, there's a very determined bug/animal that wants very badly to eat it. Don't forget to drink water, lots of it, when you're out in the sun.

Dave – is your toe feeling any better? Are you being good and staying off it?

Wendy, hope your weather stays nice and summery for a while. I envy your going swimming – such good exercise. I know how to swim, but my problem is that I sink. Never been able to float properly.

Sherry, finally you're getting workmen in to actually work! How nice to watch a deck materialize. I know you'll enjoy both front and back decks. I'm drinking a coffee as I type!

Mary – sounds like you're having a peaceful day. Listening to the birds sing is a great way to start a day. Stay out of that 93*!

Well, better think about some lunch here. I know, left-over pizza from Friday night! That's settled! Have a great day, everyone!

Good evening.  Sorry I have been neglecting my ABY friends but haven't been on line much.  Way too much to do and has been way to hot to do it but keep plugging along.  Haven't been getting up early the past couple of mornings as it has been cool and just felt like sleeping in.

Steep glad the surgery went will but do be careful and do as the doctor tells you.

BTW I did email Rob and at the time he and Tammi were in Texas to some sort of family function.  He has just been busy.

Hope everyone is well.  Tried to speed read through the posts to see what everyone was up to.

Have a great evening.  Way past my bed time.
