God Morning All

Nice warm day yesterday with a warm wind yesterday but today the rain clouds are gathering and looking very dark. Went shopping Then come home and cut the grass. I have started to turn the Espass into a camping car. Today I want to find a way to put some curtains up. I have a simple idea using some garden canes  resting on stick up hooks.
FRED. Hope you are going to show us some photos of those birds !
Must get on before the rain comes again so have a good day friends.

Good morning Stewart and Dave and all who follow.  Had a heck of a time getting on here this morning.  It is 58 and cloudy.  They called for rain all day yesterday and never got a drop.  Everything is so dry.  Suppose to warm up today and tomorrow back to the humidity.  YUK!

Just dropped in for a minute.  Have to take my DSIL to Hamilton for an appt today.  SHe is still hooked up to the IV with her meds.  She carries it with her.  SUppose to have the IV for two weeks.  She is so thin and not a very strong person.  Although I must say she hardly ever gets sick.  Hopefully things will turn out for the best.

Hope everyone has a great day.  Stay safe.

Morning all. Chilly outside right now. Just got back from the greenhouse (vent fan was running again for no reason. Thermostat is set to come on at 90 and it's 57 out there....) It does that almost every morning and can't figure out why. Always behaves all day. Oh well, will work on it after day light. Supposed to be 90+ today so I'm enjoying being cold for a bit.

Yes, power washing in a pouring rain is like, no won't say that one...a waste of time and water. Does cause a splash back of clay mud bits to say the least, but what do I know? I'm a mere female in the south where all females are simple and daft just by being here. Whatever, yep, they had to re-do some and some they just painted over....the painting is complete. Today they are returning to install the attic fan. Tom did a bunch of research and found that having an attic fan not only cools the attic resulting in lower electric bills but also preserves the shingles on the roof. Much rather pay $80 to have the fan put in than pay whatever it would cost for a new roof.....

All the toys are back in the carport, my clothesline is back up (guess what I'll be doing today, yep.) and the house looks good, altho' I think simply power washing it would have been enuf. It's amazing how much wood trim is on a brick house. Only took a tad over 3 gallons of paint but took them all day long to do even tho' we'd done the front and the back ourselves. Oh well, that's over. After the attic fan we'll tackle the tool shed. Maybe even start today. Shouldn't take all that long to get a good start at least. I don't yet have enuf jars saved up to make a lot of difference. Am going to do what my Daddy used to do. Save old jars of all sizes with screw on lids. Screw the lids into the underside of a shelf. Fill the jars with the never ending assortment of tiny things like screws, nails, washers, tacks and so forth, label them and screw them into the lids. Out of the way, labeled, easy to get to. Magnet strips attached to the walls can hold all kinds of tools that are always in demand out in full sight and reachable. Better than Tom's old military cartridge box where the one tool you need is always on the bottom so he dumps it out and there they all sit scattered about for weeks....  A few well placed strong hooks on the rafters can hold the long skinny things like the pole saw leaving room underneath for other bigger stuff like the air compressor, power washer, and such. I think we'll have more room than we think, especially after getting rid of old dried up stuff that is worthless.

Spent some time yesterday devising a way to support the office peppers. They have grown and are loaded with pepper (2 ripe ones so far). They are drooping to the ground out of the big tub; not good. I used an old wire rack from an old fridge saved for 'some purpose' and now have them supported. Looks as if I'll get enuf peppers off those 2 huge ones to do us all winter and may not need the 50+ plants growing elsewhere....but, since I now know how to make the tinctures I can make up a huge crop into a few pint jars and freeze just the mush or make other stuff with it. The tincture is extremely hot....1 ml will do a pot of chili plenty hot  and the mush (mash?) frozen in ice cube trays and put in baggies is the same. Will make some great hot relish too. We'll see.

Will need to spot water some stuff today and am thinking of moving the 'patio salvia' to a sunnier spot. Out of 15 seeds I've got 2 nice 3" plants and 1 tiny sickly looking one. Seems germination is either all or almost nil this year. They might bloom next year... Whereas, the bee balm is growing too tall too fast. Even tho' I chopped their heads off early, and again for many of them later some are taller than me and will blow over when they bloom....

So far, out of 3 egg cases (supposedly around 300 babies per case) I've seen only 1 praying mantis baby. They are really hard to see tho' and hoping there are others somewhere I just haven't seen yet....or else that one is a $10 bug and should be brought into the house, protected and fed. Would kind of defeat the whole purpose.

Got lots done in and out yesterday and will do much more today till it hits 90. Will have to retire to the house then to do other things. Maybe a nap?    lol

Wilderness, that box looks great. I think I goofed by putting the hardware cloth on mine after they were put together tacked to the inside. Should have done it like you did, would work much better.

Seems everyone is busy as usual. The weather is crazy as usual.

Have a safe day.

Good morning, all. Chilly but sunny again, but more breeze. I planted my soaked green beans yesterday, barely had room for 1 packet. I have to make the garden larger! Just have to put in a few more pepper plants, and 4 or 5 sweet potato slips. I'm taking a few over to work for my co-worker.

We have a congregational meeting tonight, to approve a budget for the year. Should be interesting.

Yesterday afternoon I noticed a rhubarb leaf mostly eaten, so better get out the Bug-getta. Slugs are liable to eat the whole plant.

Stewart, check out this website: http://www.americanprofile.com/articles/route-66-travel/ – it's the article that was in our Sunday newspaper. Think I mentioned it the other day. I didn't realize it was on-line. Glad your weather is improving.

Dave – still no rain, huh? Not here either.

Sherry – I had quite a time getting on this morning too! And it's been very easy lately. Go figure. Good luck with your DSIL today. Hope they say she's improving. Prayers for a complete recovery.

Brenda, glad you got the house all painted. Hope you actually have more mantises than you can see.

Time to pack up and go to work. Will probably have a full day of it, but at least full days go quickly. Enjoy your day, everybody.

Good Morning!  Cool and rainy today. Should have saved the shopping for today. Was going to clean the pond yesterday but Hubby decided he wanted to go shopping, so shopping we went.  To tired and sore when we got home so nothing else got done.  Sure am getting tired of this D**N shoulder and arm!  Still doing my excercises.

Sherry, has your DSIL improved at all?  It's so sad... prayers for  her.

Brenda, you and Wilderness both can pack up some of your energy and mail it to me!!  I sure could use it!  Glad to hear your house is all painted. Over the mud huh? LOL!

Has anyone heard from Red? How about  Dasiy? Haven't seen her on in ages!

A big hello to everyone I missed and all who follow! have a great day!

Just a short note to let you know I am still around.  I couldn't get on the last two mornings to post.  Not sure what the trouble is.

If I have trouble again tomorrow morning. may not post again until we get home on Sunday, or maybe Monday.  We leave tomorrow afternoon for another camping weekend.

Have a good evening All.
