Rise & Shine Good Morning “TO” FridayFriday, November 20, 2009 8:27 AMHad some rain through the night. But looks like it could be a nice day again. Cut the lawn yesterday Then had a sleep, So part 5 of our holiday Wednesday There is a very good bus service on the Island the fare was 50p for anywhere, this year it was 52p, if you wanted, you can go all round the Island for that. You have to make sure that you read the timetable and understand it, we slipped up here again. We thought that there was a bus at 9,30am at Friquet, we took that to mean the Hotel, it did not. So when I spotted the back of a bus we decided that we had missed it, as it turned out we had not. So we went for the car to go back to St Peter Port. After parking I went to the bus Kiosk to find out where we had gone wrong, It turned out that there was 2 Friquet stops. The bus I spotted had entered the road on time and turned left to go round the block to enter the road again on our right to stop at our stop 20 minutes later. Ho, well you live & learn. Wendy wanted to go to a little Supermarket she had seen, so we split and I went to a Computer shop I want to get on to this computer Cam so I can see my friends and have a live chat. I decided Right or WrongThat the cam on the Laptop is a little bit immobile, after a long chat I bought a Microsoft Life Cam VX - 3000 to fit in place of the Laptop cam. We went back to the hotel. Nearby they have built a beautiful new Plant Nursery in the shape of a octagon like the U.S treasury and as expensive but the plants were competitively priced. I bought a good book - The Complete Gardener at sale price of £5From £12,50. Just could not resist it, then we went and had a snack In there café. Then back to the Hotel for nice hot bath and a again very nice dinner. I have some small thing that you might be interested in about, of all places Arizona I do not Know How You are standing all this tension. LOL. ROBO, I am sure you will get your Licence, Good luck KEGGY. You and your students would be welcome at the Café in St Peters Port. Now 21 that is pushing you a bit yes!! Greetings of Thursday Thank You. Dave, Keggy, Steep, Brb4y, Robo, Wilderness, Snowwolf, Fred, Denise, & Nora. & Tigsy Welcome To Giftedgrandma. Hoping those not present are safe. Those not well, will be back soonHave a pleasant day all, STEWART & WENDY

Good morning, 43 up to 50 today and the rain has stopped. I'm working at a local university today, planting plants I think. Should be nice and muddy for that, good way to end the week. Going to a euchre party tonight, have a great day!
Good monring to all.
Stewart, I think taking the class on trip to cafe at St Peters port is an excellent idea. Maybe we could have fund raiser to get money for plane fare. Do you think the cafe gives coupons for free kids meal? We only go where we get free food. I don't think this is the kind of trip to Gurnesy that I had planned!
White Christmas was wonderful. Lots of singing and dancing and beautiful costumes. Got home late so this will be a long day. I also have last Christmas card making class tonight.
Nothing planned for the weekend. Yea. Maybe I'll make a visit to the gym since I pay my monthly membership and haven't been since July.
Welcome to Giftedgrandma, I sent you a post. We have a great group here.
DD is coming to town on Monday, she has to give a talk on wound care at University Hospital Tuesday morning. I'll try to meet her for dinner Monday evening. We will see her again Thursday for Thanksgiving. We are taking Mom and driving to Milwaukee on Thursday. Hope for good weather.
Gotta clean up the kitchen and let the cats out.
Good weekend to all
Clear and 50º here. We had torrential rains last night with lightning and thunder. One strike was incredibly close by. I wonder if I will see where it hit as I leave this morning. We have a metal roof and I always wonder if the lightning will strike us. My pond is full to the brim.
Welcome Giftedgrandma. Stay around, you'll like it here and as Tigsy said it is addiciting though with a great group of folks who all like gardening. We are off topic most days now since we are kept indoors, but come a warming spell and spring the topic will shift back full time to gardening.
Roboutside:Going to a euchre party tonight
What's a euchre party, Rob?
Snowwolf - the deer are very bold. I have/had a pot of pansies at my front door. They've never come that close before, but the plant is practically nibbled away.
Today is Grandparents/Special Friends Day at school. We will be filled up with guests. Hey, it's another last for me and a relatively easy day. I'll use the time I have open to prepare for my 34 conferences next week.
I have a long list of to dos for tomorrow. Looking forward to DD and SiL's arrival on Tuesday evening.
Happy Friday!
Good morning everyone. Stewart love your vacation news.
Welcome to Giftedgrama, we are a very friendly bunch. Loved your pictures.
Rob, hope isn't too muddy. We haven't played euchre since we moved from Indiana. I grew up playing. It seems to be a midwest game.
Sounds like you had a big day yesterday Keggy. Can't imagine making my Christmas card, I have enough trouble getting them signed and mailed.
Poor Trouble, just can't find his own place to dig. LOL
We have a wedding to attend on Sat.. so won't get anything done here at home.
Must get ready for work.
Have a good one
robbie
Wow, I'm so glad everyone is so busy. And you thought you'd be house bound all thru the cold weather? Not quite.
I remember years (many) ago when I took the boards for my RN license I had to wait 2 months to see if I'd passed or not. By then I was working as charge in a small hospital and the only RN there, even if I didn't have a license yet. That was scary. Guess they knew I'd pass..... Took another 6 weeks to get the actual license. Things have changed quite a bit.
Wilderness, I'd love to have your clam chowder recipe. I really miss that stuff and all we have here is the canned stuff. DM would probably eat that but she doesn't like the canned. Fresh clams are out of the question, but canned ones are sometimes available. I could use a bowl right now! Yes, I know what time it is, but my body doesn't anymore. I can eat any type meal any time of day.
Got some quiet things to do (everyone else is asleep including the cats) before church tv and then trying to take a nap. Got a long nite coming up tonight at work. Taking naps is not easy around here with DM meals every few hours, but I'm getting better at it.
Everyone have a great weekend and be safe.
49 and it rained most of the night. It has stopped right now. Think it is suppose to be partly cloudy this afternoon. Didn't do anything but laundry and cook yesterday. Have to get the kitchen cleaned up and has some sauce to can then may go to the shop for the day. Trying to fix an old wooden step stool to use out there. Will need to take a dowel to friends to have a couple of holes drilled in the dowel since I gave my drill press to DS and he is so busy it is difficult to catch him at home to do it for me. Then I am going to work on the flower pot lights.
Trouble broke his collar he got so excited when DB came home from day hab. The driver was able to catch him and just put his cable around his neck and called DD to let me know how he was tied. When I got home there was no Trouble at the end of the cable. DB is not very apt at handling him but was able to get him in the house and into his cage. Didn't know he even knew how to hook it. So now he has a new much heavier collar. See how long that lasts. LOL
Have a great day.
Good moring to all it is 25 degrees here this morning with a high of 52 today they say and the sun is shining again. Which is wonderful, love to see the sun each day we can.
Stewart your trip sounds wonderful, sorry you missed your bus, but look on the bright side you got to the computer store and a plant nursery.
rob planting plants well i hope it is just trees and shrubs, putting perennials in this time of year is pretty risky business. We couldn't even think it here with the winters we have, usually have to much cold and not enough snow cover. your zebra grass is huge never gets that big here, must be to cold and too windy. heard of the card game euchera but never played it.
keggy, Glad you enjoyed white Christmas, I bet the costume were wonderful. I am going to take the girl scouts to see Annie at the Rose theater in December.
Steepdrive, you can keep all the rain your getting now and the deer, the farmers are just getting a good start around here getting there corn crop out. mention rain around here and for sure you will get very dirty looks. They are complain already for they were done harvesting by halloween last year. The crop are testing way to wet so they are having to dry the corn before taking it to the local elevator. my DH has been fixing tires for equipement like it is going out of style and helping setting up propane tanks for the farmers to dry. they haven't had to use them in the last 5 years. So they have to rewire them to the bin and replace the hoses for the propane to run through.
Robbie have fun at your wedding on Saturday
brb4y, you are a nurse just like my daughter, good for you, have fun at work. You know just as much as the doctor does, and usually have a better handle on what the patient needs then they do, because you spend so much time with them.
Wilderness, you sure pick out a good name for trouble when you got him. Just think you have about 2 more years of him tearing things up before he settles down. That is how long it took my two dogs to finally stop digging in the yard. We use to have a german shepard dog about 20 years ago he was really a good dog with the kids. Trouble be nice to Wilderness today. Can you give me the full recipe on how to make brascoile, that sound like something my DH would like. you said to use the flank would minute steak do.
Red hope your doctors appointment went well.
Fred, loves to play in the dirt , nora , tigsy, good morning to all of you.
Dave hi, I don't think i met you yet where do you live? What is your weather like.
Greetings to Gifted granny.
Good morning to everybody else I missed and have a wonderful day
Well i better get to work. Had a wonderful time last night went out to eat for out anniversary that is today, been married to the same person for 33 years.
Snowwolf57
Snowwolf happy anniversary.
No flank steak is a kind of steak that is used for London Broil. It is a thin steak that is quite grainy. You get it at the meat market. You can also use top round if you can get it cut thin.
I will post both the chowder and the brasciole later.
Tigs I couldn't find the peanut humming bird you are referring to. Help
Good Morning! It's 35 windchill 28 and the high of 66. Cold front moved in last night. I got the water hose hooked back up so I could water today. Most of my plants are still very nice. I have a Cyclamen (misspelled) that has amazed me! Took a picture about a week ago will try to post it. I have never grown one and this one just keeps getting bigger. My Gerber Daisy's are doing good as well. The red one has 3 new flowers. The cold weather hasn't hurt them at all. The snake plant in the house I noticed has a new flower! Twice in one year! I was trying to break off the old piece of the bloom it had before and noticed it has a sticky, gummy feel to it. Pretty neat to see another bloom since it's never bloomed before. Will go to DS #3 tomorrow in Odessa. He is putting a roaster on of Menudo tonight and has invited some family over for in the morning. His first time to host a family gathering. I'm sure he and GF will be very busy tonight. Menudo is alot of work. Maybe by then my DM will decide about Thanksgiving. It's getting to close and haven't shopped at all for it. The turkey is covered. DS #2 gets a smoked one at work. But I will need to get to DM's to clean house for her. I am also hoping to get back on the barge bed in the afternoon or Sunday
Stewart Looked up St. Peter's Port. Just beautiful there. Love the story! Hi to Wendy!
Red Hope to see you back here soon! Miss ya!
Everyone have a great day!
Hi to Wilderness Tigs Steep Brby Keggy Dirt Robee Rob Fred Dave Rocky and Snowwolf
Good morning - it is 26º and frosty. Getting ready for the trip this afternoon to Spokane for the craft/art show. Will come back tomorrow evening. There may be snow on the passes especially Look Out on the Montana-Idaho border. Not too worried as the Pathfinder has all-wheel drive & 4 wheel drive settings so just adjust the speed to the conditions.
Not much else going on. Have to get ready to go to work. When I get off I need to dash to see DM, come home and do chores, and pick up my friend at 4. We pick up an hour going into Pacific time and plan to take her to dinner.
Got to get rolling and will be back Sunday to see hou everyone is doing.
Fred in MT Zn 4/5
OK, a quick buzz through. I had a mammygram and bone density test this past Tuesday in Lubbock. At 5:30AM, yesterday morning, DH and I headed to Amarillo, which is 300 miles down the highway, for the colonscopy.
Results of the first two tests may be in about a week. They did a height measurement and I have lost an inch of height.
As for yesterday, I will not regale you with the trip as I am certain most of you are familiar with the nasty stuff one has to consume and the "end" result. Just think about me traveling in a Suburban, without a bathroom and nary a bush to hide behind.
(how did I manage??? )
Yesterday, after I woke up, they informed me that a large polyp was removed, they got it all and the results of testing it should be in, approximately, 15 to 30 days.
We spent a bit of time parked on the side of the highway, last night, on the return trip as I threw up my toenails.
Today, I feel fine.
Good afternoon all. On DSL right now, but you never know -- it could go out at any time.
Stewart, your travelog is fascinating -- keep up the good work!
Wilderness, guess Trouble is indeed living up to his name... Good for DB, catching him!
Rob and Brenda -- the Certified Public Accountant exam used to be like that, maybe 4 months until they heard if they passed. No, I’m not a CPA, I just proofread books about accounting and preparing for the exam. They used to give it only in spring and fall, a big 3-day exam, but now they can take it whenever they want, on a computer, at multiple sites around the country. I think there’s even one in our small town.
Steep, that T-storm sounds scary, especially with the metal roof!
Keggy, go ahead and try a fund-raiser, see if you can get the class to St.Peters Port -- sounds fun!
Dave, what kinds of nuts do you raise? Pecans? Butternuts?
Snowwolf, happy anniversary! Good for you and your DH, 33 years! The crops are very wet around here, too, and farmers are finding it hard to get propane for the dryers -- no shortage, just kinks & clogs in the supply lines. Crazy year, weatherwise. The farmers are all running late here, too.
Nora, glad your Gerbers and the cyclamen are doing well. Is the latter is outdoors? I had Gerbers from seed one year, and they did well until frost, and I liked them so much I pulled all 7 or 8 of them and potted them up for indoors, and they kept blooming all winter! The smoked turkey sounds wonderful.
Fred, hope your trip is uneventful and safe.
Red, my sympathies; I’ve had all those (wonderful?) tests, but in the same town, and on different days! Glad you feel okay today. I did once have a 45-min. ride while drinking a quart of water in prep for an ultrasound of my first child. Not fun either.
Hi to anyone later than I am, and have a good rest-of-the-day, everyone!
