Good evening. Time to start the Friday Nature Post. Today was exceptional. More posts that anytime in the short time I have been doing this. Wonderful. I love the diversity of this thread. I'm heading away from the Washington coast and coming back to Montana. These pictures are from Red Rock Lakes NWR near West Yellowstone. We were visiting our ranger friend and his wife. The difference between Red Rock Lakes and Yellowstone is there are no people here while Yellowstone is probably like driving on the freeway in LA. I'm not sure though as I've never driven on the freeway in LA. I can vouch for the crowds in Yellowstone though. This particular lake is Elk Lake and we had it to ourselves. The men fished and caught beautiful cutthroats while the women sat around in a nice meadow with wildflowers and watched. We even had our own private outhouse as you can see in the background.
Dan
Gorgeous trout shot Danny. I think these are going to get cut off but oh well, Just a very big fat Turtle, ha. These two Turtles were saved by one of our animal control officers. A guy had them in a trash can in his back yard. He was going to eat them. The animal control officer called me to take some photos, before we took them and released them. The animal control officer got bit by the little one, which was not all that little, ha.
Those guys are real cuties. are they snapping turtles?
The black squirrel which has been coming for crabapples.
Another one from the tree stand. Not my picture. As you can see, he has been busted.
Getting older is fun--getting old should be avoided.
Yep Snapping Turtles. He had both turtles in one trash can with water in it. they had been in there for a very longtime. The one turtle was as big as the bottom of the trash can.
Birdlady, that is a beautiful photo. I have seen that face many times Pacman, ha.
Dan, great fishing spot....nice catch! Ed, snappers can be nasty....good thing the big one didn't bite your friend.....he would be missing fingers for sure! Birdlady, cute and colorful squirrel pic. The crabapple tree makes a great photo stage! Pacman...aww it's frightened eyes look to be saying...please don't shoot!
I found this very comfortable raccoon at the local metro park, sitting flat on it's behind, gobbling bird food for a long time. Notice the "critter baffle" on the pole didn't seem to stop it. :)
Good Morning,Great Pictures!-------Petunia Bloom
Good pictures everyone.
Not sure how old this picture is but in my webshots album I have it labeled as November rainbow which is unusual around here.

Dan, It looks like y'all really had an enjoyable relaxing time at the lake. Beautiful place and a very fine looking fish.
Ed, Those are some huge turtles. I'm glad they were rescued.
Caty, Love your Black Squirrel in your Crabapple. We only have the grey one here.
Pacman, The expression this deer has makes me almost cry. I would never make a good Deer Hunter.
naturelover, What a cute picture of the coon.
Jaguae, Purple flowers of any kind are a favorite of mine.
Here is my chilling squirrel after I ran him out of a feeder.
