Good Monday morning bird-watchers, friends, and guests!

Time to start a new week thread............It is hard to believe another week has passed. Soon it will be Thanksgiving...........then Christmas before we know it! What happened to the rest of the year???

Anyhow.....Quote today is "The God of Jacob is our refuge," which is from the bible in Psalms..........if anyone objects to a bible verse.....please let me know............

Bird of the day is Blue Jay...................

Good morning Swordbird.

I love your bird of the day pick. did you know that after the last glacial period the blue jay is the bird who, with its love of acorns, helped replish the oaks?

There is no amount of darkness that can extinguish the inner light. The important thing is not to spend our lives trying to control the environment around us. The task is to control the environment within us.

Good Morning Sunshine & All!

Yup....It will be a new year before we know it.  Time does seem to fly by.  I think Ed was referring to the size of his picture fitting.

I enjoyed the quotes, pictures and the cool fact about the Blue Jay!

Have a wonderful day Everyone!

Great pictures, Everyone!  I went on a Birding trip down to a Sarasota County Preserve yesterday. What a glorious day. Hardly a cloud in the sky and cool temps to start with and hardly a breeze. Just excellent Birding weather. Lots of Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, Palm Warblers,a Black&White Warbler, a Ruby-crowned Kinglet, some Yellow-rumped Warblers, frequent Eastern Phoebes, Downeys, Red-bellied and the best(for me, a Lifer) Red-Headed Woodpecker- three different sitings, Red- shouldered Hawks, frequent Bald Eagles(flying - most Immature), Common Yellowthroat, Amer. Crows, Vultures, White Ibis, Great Blue Heron, Green Heron, Immature Black-crowned Heron, Great Egrets, Snowy Egrets, Immature Little Blue Herons, many Boat-tailed Grackles, 4 - Amer. Kestrels, Belted Kingfisher, Mourning Doves, N. Cardinals. Heard but not seen; Bluebird, House Wren, Carolina Wren, White -eyed Vireo, Hermit Thrush. Critters seen; Coyote, Wild Pig, W.T. Deer, Alligators. A great day! I am "leading" a group from the local Audubon chapter down there again on Wens, hope the weather is as great.(Sorry if I was too long-winded, just wanted to share)Geeked

My contribution to the bird of the day. I like the quotes.

Dee it sounds like you had a fabulous day of bird watching! I wish I was into birds when I lived there.

Good morning Sunshine / Swordbird  ... I always enjoy this topic

Great Bluejay photos so far everyone!

Dee - A perfect weather day and that many bird speicies will make anyone "long winded!"

I really like this Bluejay photo ... I guess it's the pose ... the only problem with it is that the dummy operating the camera cut off the jay's feet!  Ha
