Seed train C arrived at Rock'y's in need of TLC as the seeds were spilled and wet. She has graciously cleaned it up, dried it out and sent it Alice.
Thank you for all the help Rocky. We're still new to this and can only improve our methods.
Before spring we will send out a train with the results from the trains.
Thanks to all the participants for the work that you did.
Janis
Janis , you are very welcome I didnt mind doing it at all , but I do have something to say and I am probly going to make a few emies here , but life is that way cause I really dont care any more one way or the other sorry but thats the way I feel , I had people send me stamps for seeds they asked for 1,Flowerlady1 2.Katiebell,3.mcjughead ,all three of these ladies ask me for seeds they sent there stamps to me I sent there requested seeds and not one of them even bothered to take the time to at leaset let me know they got the seeds and to me that is rude , if I can go to the trouble of sending out seeds that they sent stamps for the least a person can do is let that person know they got the seeds ,I mean after all it only takes a few sec to sit down and write a PM saying hey thanks for the seeds they arrived .or thnaks for the seeds or hey I didnt get them or what ever ,you know what comon cursty (sp) is , well it really pays to use it , ok now I will get off my B****ing , but it really helps my feelings if those folks I send seeds to would let me know they got them or not !
Hi Janis & Rocky,
Sorry for intruding on your personal post to each other but Rocky I know what you mean. I was not on the seed train because I didn't want anyone to have to pay the high postage to send it to me in Canada, but I have swapped or just sent seeds to many gals in the US and not a reply back from some of them. I have even posted a PM to a couple gals asking if they had received their seeds and nothing back from that as well. Oh well live & learn, I know who I can trade or send seeds too because they were all quick to let me know they had arrived. As soon as I received my mail I let the person know, it's only common courtesy.
Ok there, I vented, deep breath now
Janis, just reading all about the seed train was amazing to me, so organized and even though I wasn't a part of it, it was so neat to read where and who had the train and where is was going or coming from next. Sounded like fun, well except for the mouldy seeds, and spilled seeds.....I will continue to travel with the seed train in my mind as I read.
Take care ladies
Donna
Hi all,
After reading the discussions on here about not letting folks know when seeds are received. I have to admit I have been one of those people. I have just started the seed swapping thing. I have been quite unorganized. I should have kept better records with all the folks I traded or SASE with. I will do much better next year. I have received all the seeds I traded or sent postage for. I hope all that I sent out was received as well. Alice

Alice , it really helps u if you will get you a three ring binder or a notebook like the kids carry in schooll there are not expensive and wrute down the names of people you send sase to and what seeds you are expecting that way you know who you send saase to and what you are expecting back from that person , and it only takes a minute to sit down and say I got ur seeds really so if you will write that persons users name down with it , I have been on this board since 2003 and this is the first time this has happened to me , I have gotten took before but never have I have folks not tell me that they have or not goteen there seeds ,if I foind out someone one here is taken folks for a ride I will post there name and address if I have it ,and believe me I will do it as I have done it in the past , but welcome to the seed swap board and you are more than weclome to come come the flower board also we have alot of wonderful people there also ,
Donna maybe these folks can redeem themselves by sending out Christmas cards. I'm sure not all of them intentionally didn't answer or outthought themselves and thought they had sent it.
I like your idea with the binder. I need that. I awoke last night thinking that there was a live plant in the train that I opened inthe car and I went and got it and put it in soil. LOL DH couldn't see what the hurry was.
And that was the reason I got on this forum this morning because I wasn't sure if I posted receiving that train..
How expensive could it be to send a post to Canada? If you give me your address on a pm I can send you a mini train and then you can share your growing stories.
BB you can tell the seed traders that if they don't reply to your letter then you will send the bird of paradise to s it on them. LOL
Believe it or not I didn't get to plant one seed yet.
Janis , you are soooooo funny , I would never do that LMAO , I just wont trade with them any more !!
BTW if you send anything to canada make sure and mark it as whatnots and not seeds other wise the customs will not let it go through I know I did it that way , thats what the lady at the post office told me to do when I sent some canna tubers to a friend over there ,
Janis you have pm
I will have to swipe one of my husbands notebooks, he is presently continuing his education, he has so many of them I shouldn't have trouble getting one, lol. I am usually more organized but this year has been a little crazy around our house. Thanks for all your work getting the seed train back on track. I haven't ever participated in something like this but I think being close to the caboose will be the best spot to be. LOL I can't wait until it arrives. I have really enjoyed collecting seeds and trading them. Alice
Hi Janis & Rocky, you both crack me up but it's good to have a laugh. Somehow I don't think I will be receiving a Christmas card from the ones that did not let me know their seeds arrived and I am sure they did get them. I like the bird of paradise idea LOL
Janis, one packet of seeds I sent cost me $6.00. Now there were a lot of seeds, plus the 4 o'clock seeds are large so that makes me think that it would cost a few $$$ with the seed train and I wouldn't want to put that cost on anyone, it isn't fair. Thank you for the offer to send a mini train but I know you are busy, I may decide to hop on one next year, I would offer to send money for the postage due to the person that sends it to me, I think that is fair. I had so much fun just reading and following your train, I like the terms on track etc. you used as the seeds travelled.
Rocky, at my post office I had to write that it was a gift and it was flower seeds. I'm not sure but I think if I remember it was Kimmer that said her's had been inspected but she did get them, just a little later.
Thanks girls, need any fuchsia 4 o'clock seeds...........I have tons still.......
Take care and thanks again.........maybe I will only swap with people that have seeds to trade, will have to think about that one..........
Donna , the seeds train just cost me like a 1.80 to send it to Alice , but sending to canada is alil moe costly , but I do know that if you want to avoid customs going through it and just letting it go right on through you can write on the box or package that it is wahtnots and it is fragile like the lady at the post office told me to do and it will slip right through them and they wont even take notice to it and they will send it right on through ,
Come aboard Donna. PM us your address and we can give it a try. I currently have trains of seeds. LOL We can do quality control and see how they survive in the coldest weather.
Just try a few and see how you do.
If not do you live anywhere near East Port Maine? I believe that's the name. It's the deepest port for Maine ans just across the border. My friend goes over monthly to Canada and will be visiting at Christmas and can hand deliver if it's nearby.
Donna,
You're right it was me but I did get my seeds. I don't understand that inspection thing but hey whatever they have to do to earn their keep!
Seed train C has arrived in Alabama! It will be on it way to Sherilynn soon.
