Yesterday Ted was tieing up some of the tomatoes along the garage, and he knocked a few of the big green tomatoes off - so we had fried green tomatoes for breakfast, and they were delicious. A real treat.
Yum, yum!! I love them, but have always heard they are best when harvested after the frost hits them. Ever heard that?

Yes, it makes them sweeter. I just sliced them and then sprinkled a little bit with sugar, not too much, and salt and pepper and let them sit for about half an hour, then put them in the corn meal.
Frost is good for a lot of things, brussel sprouts and broad beans too.
Today we are going to the local farmer's market and I don't know why. Sure don't need veggies. Oh well, it is an outing.........
They might have something else you want Maxine. Ours has imported olive oil, homemade sausages and cheeses and all kinds of stuff.

I ended up buying a couple pork pies - the real English kind you eat cold. They are so good. They have a lot of stuff too, but the prices are unreal.
Hmmm, now that sounds interesting, never had anything like that. Ours is pretty high too, so much so I'm glad I grow a lot of my own stuff. LOL
