Just found out this morning that my step-granddaughter Celina is pregnant...she is due January 3 (day before my b'day)...she turns 17 on July 24...but is more like a 13 or 14 year old...I had posted earlier how the guy she was with was a pedophile according to Ceenie's mom...and that this guy (26 years old)....was caught trying to molest Ceenie's younger sister...Beckie (Celina's mom) had even been in touch with the police about him....when I called Celina on him being caught...she said she was tired of ppl saying it was her sister when it wasn't her sister...she never denied he was caught though....but...she has broken it off with him as of last night though...thank goodness...don't know how long that will last....Celina has no idea what she is in for...she is so not ready for a baby...she said the 'condom broke'...whatever....she is back at home with her mom...at least for now until she screws it up at home again.
Hmmm...are charges being brought against this guy? Seems like he needs to be behind bars.

no Teresa...Celina is not under 16 so the police cannot do anything about it...her mom already checked into it.
That's too bad Linda. I didn't realize a kid had to be under 16 in order for it to be illegal. I wish her the best of luck.
Yeah Smurph, we talked about this before & the legal age in Canada is different then it is here in the states. Shame though. Maybe , just maybe, the baby will help her straighten out.
Yeah I was pretty glad when they changed the age of consent to 16, up from 14. That wasn't even that long ago - within the last decade I think. Still if the bf was caught with a younger lady i have to wonder why charges weren't pressed?
All in all a really sad situation for your niece, who probably has no clue what she is in for and will not likely get any monetary support from the father. Let's hope she can stay away from him. It also makes me sad for the baby- that's a pretty rough start already. Hope she has a good support network

I suppose a lot of people would disagree with me, but the very best thing for that girl would be to put the baby up for adoption. If she wants the baby to have any chance in this world she would consider it.That girl evidently can't take very good care of herself, how in the world is she going to raise a child especially with no monetary help.How could she expect her mother to raise the child and that is probably what will happen.What kind of life for a child is that. There are hundreds of people in this world that would give that baby a good life, and raise it in a home with 2 loving parents.

Celina said the the condom broke...ya...whatever... ...there was issues with her wanting to have a baby last year....I don't think it was an unwanted pregnancy at all......if her due date is correct...she would have gotten pregnant around the time her 18 year old brother and his gf had their baby...which they have given up...the baby is in foster care...I know that Celina would never agree to giving her baby up for adoption.
I wish she would give it up for adoption. She is a just a kid herself, having one. Maybe she could make a better life for herself if she did give it up and she could start over and finish education, etc. So many couples would love a little one to bring up and would pay all costs to adopt. There are ads in our paper here all the time couples wanting to adopt and pay all fees, hospital and legal.
I hope she stays broke up with him forever.

Most states kids are emancipated at 16, so not much you can really do legally unless it was rape, which doesn't sound like the case. Its sad, she's going to throw her young life down the tubes, just so many girls do this, even though they have so many more opportunities than we did when we were younger. Hopefully things will work out.

Usually when you hear that someone is expecting a baby, we're happy for them. However, in Celina's case, it's a sad thing. IF she does continue to live with her Mom, I just think that eventually she'll feel trapped by the baby and leave and then the grandmother will end up raising the baby...which isn't fair at all. That baby deserves to be with a couple who will love & provide for it. A baby isn't a toy...isn't a doll. Sure hope that someone can make Celina understand that ...and that she does give it up for adoption.
It's a sad thing but I'll say prayers for her & the baby.
