I had to get an early start this morning, an appointment to get my hair cut at 8:30 and one at the hospital at 9:15 for a bone density test and hip x-rays. Then home to mow the lawn, was going to do that yesterday after church but when I got home DD had friends in the pool and I couldn't mow then, by the time they got finished she was mowing her lawn. She only has two days off and I have more time so I just let her finish hers. Going to be hot the first few days of this week, almost to the 100º mark again so my time will be spent watering most of the week. Thankfully the temps on this patio are never too hot or too wet so I will spend as much time as possible here. We have a 50-50 chance of some rain today and we can use it. This weekend they have looked promising and instead of coming over us they ran up the river about a mile from us and the same places got the rain two days in a row. NOT FAIR!! Lots of cold drinks ready for you here today, some homemade bread, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes and cheese for you to have for your lunch today. The tomatoes are wonderful right now. And the sweet corn is great so there is a roaster full of roasted ears for you to enjoy with your sandwiches. Have a wonderful day, I hope those who have had too much rain will dry out and send some of that to the ones who really need some.
Well my week of being sick is over. Its time to go to work. Boy this is going to be fun. I will start my day at work in the head office and all the red tape. Looking forward to it. LOL

Good morning all. Back to work today. I was off since July 4th. I'm not looking forward to it. I'm glad it's only 4-day weeks until September. I planted the planters that I repainted yesterday. They look pretty. My plans today are for work and watering.
All that sounds wonderful Molly. My tomatoes are still as green as can be. But, when they start to come in, they all come at once. I'll be making plenty of donations to my neighbors and Sunday school.
It's going to be hot again here too for the next few days. At least at work, it will air conditioned and I don't have to pay for it.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day.
Morning, I feel your pain Wendy and Gary, back to work for me too but I'm blessed to have a job to go back to so I'll grumble and walk in with a smile and try and get back in the swing. I too have a 4-day week which will make it easier. LOL We're to be in low 90's today, muggy (already) and chances of pop up storms every afternoon but like Molly, most of the ones went within a mile from me but ended up with an inch compared to 5 inches a lot of places. JB is following my every move, can't even use the bathroom without him laying in the floor and just watching me so he is worried I'm leaving him again - oh well momma's got to pay for the dog food. HAHA Everyone have a great day!

Good morning. Headed to at least the middle 90s today. Back to work after two days off. Be a 5 day work week again this week. I kind of like Saturday off, though, so will enjoy this one, too.
The J. Beetles really like the Rose of Sharon and the White Hibiscus. It's pretty easy to shake them off into the bowl from those-no thorns! They don't bother the knockout rose anymore since there are no blooms on it.
It's interesting to see what plants are holding up pretty well and which ones aren't in the heat, so I'm getting it figured out which ones I won't grow next year. I have some things I want to try next year, and will need the room. The cleomes did really well, but they are so big that I don't know whether they will be back.
Well, have to get my lunch ready and a book wrapped to go to Afghanistan for DS's birthday on the 30th. Have to mail it now so it has a chance to make it on time. He sure enjoyed his time at home with his DW and their baby boy. Hard to leave them. He's checking into a job in Huntsville, AL, and if that works out, he will probably leave the Army and settle there when this term is up. Doesn't want to miss so much of his son growing up by being deployed all the time.
Everybody have a great day.

Leroy I lived just outside of Huntsville Al and loved it! I hope he can settle there and enjoys it as much as I did.
Good morning everyone....starting our day at 72º and going into the upper 90s.....still no rain. I see that many of our trees are dropping their leaves. I don't think that is a good sign.
Molly....good luck with the bone density test. I've never had one of those either. You must be getting all checked out to make sure you are fit and able to enjoy retirement!
Wendy, Gary, and Del....so sorry that your time at home is over. Like Del said....I guess you just need to be thankful that you have a job to go to.
Leroy.....I think that Tealbird's daughter is in Huntsville.
Work in my shop where it will be very warm later this afternoon....good time to sit and do sewing projects.
Have a great Monday everyone. Charlene
Good morning everyone. It is ging to be a HOT one again today. It is 77*, sunny, and not even a breeze. Suppose to get up near 100* here for the net couple of days. Went to consignment auction auction over the weekend and got myself some planters and birdhouses. One is a feeder. Not doing much today being as it is going to be hot, but will find something to do.,besides watering plants.
Everyone have a gokod day and try to stay cool.
Eva
Good morning. The start of a full work week for me, the first in a few weeks. But since my work week is only 4 days I can't complain.
I'm sure it will be hot, but probably not as hot as some of you. I forgot to water the pots yesterday, so I will need to do that tonight, after I unload all of the things I bought from work at auction last week.
Leroy, I have nieces in the Huntsville area, and I went there for some training for work back in the 90s. It seemed to be a nice area. I hope your son is able to work it out, so he can enjoy his son.
Have a good day.
Good morning. Started the day off at 66° with a few scattered clouds and muggy. Supposed to be in the lower 90s before more storms move in. Yesterday we got yet another storm and 8 tenths of an inch of rain. So far for the month we have gotten over 5 inches of rain and a good chance for more storms in the next few days. I see several of you have been off work the past week and have to go back today. I know its hard going back after being off but its one of those things we have to do and yes as a couple of you mentioned its good to even have a job to go to these days. Today I'm off work and have lots to do and theres no way I can do everything I need to get done and especially if the storms fire up as early as they did yesterday. Thinking for supper tonight I just might get my first corn of the season out of the garden. Not getting anything done sitting here so better get started. Have a great day.
Good morning! Well it's going to be another hot one. They are giving out warnings again. The hospitals are on standby for people affected by the heat. Best is to stay indoors with A/C.
We did finally get a thunderstorm which came down in buckets. Thanks goodness for that. It's good to get the plants watered manually, but good old rain gives them the proper 'drink'.
I had such a great day yesterday. My DD and the boys came over. I am always a bit more nostalgic on Sundays, so when company is over, I'm a happy camper. Today, I have to go out no matter what, and then pack my suitcase. I'll be taking the train to visit my DS#1, and my ex SIL. This will be my mini vacation. I opted out from taking the plane as I have not been on a long train ride in over 50 years so this will be fun. Everyone has computers over there so I will try to chime in.
Hope you all have a nice day!
'Morning! Ditto what everyone else has said about the weather. It is going to be hot here today, and even hotter tomorrow. We're expecting at least 100 degree temps for the day. That will be a record for the day.
Since I won't be going outside for anything other than watering today, I decided to go into my classroom and do some work there. I have bought and made quite a few things that I want to laminate before the year begins, and I thought I might as well get a jump start on that while no one else is using the laminator. I want to sort through papers from last year, also. I could conceivably spent all day in my empty room, and I wouldn't even put a dent in what I need to get done. A little work here and a little there should hopefully make my August a whole lot easier. We are starting classes pretty early this year so my time is running out to try and stay ahead of the game.
Hope you all have a wonderful day! Stay cool!!!

Been busy this morning getting the house cleaned and laundry done before it gets hotter. I will sit here for a few and then go run my errands and visit my mom.
We are so busy at work that I am just dreading going back tomorrow. I also have my annual review tomorrow and not sure how that will go because I have let my feelings about things known and they don't like that but I am at the point that I really don't give a shi!, lol.
Hardly a thing blooming in my yard anymore except the BES and the gold finches have been on them the last 2 days plucking the petals off of them. As I sit here I see they are at it again.......Kathy
Good morning, Molly, that sounds good a BLT with fresh tomato on, and corn on the cob too! Stella- last time being on a long train ride was in 1959 from new york to mass, sitting on wooden seats!awful! Mary in Ky 11.36am
Good Morning, Sunny and 82 here this morning at 7am. I decided to get some things done before I'm forced into my kitchen prison to stay cool. Going up the 100's the rest of the week. Lucky you Steve, with all that 6" of rain. We have only had 7 inches this year. Don't have much to talk about I just wanted to check in while it is cool in my office. Have a good day. Lair
