I know it is late in the season but I planted peas and beans for the third time!  Those darn baby bunnies are so bold that they are following me around now!  This time I scooped off half of the top layer of the compost bin and then put down some sand and then some sifted top soil and put seeds across that and then covered with more top soil.  The compost bin is made from the shower doors and is too tall for the bunnies to jump up into!  Beans and peas grow fast if not nibbled down as soon as they sprout!  I hope I have out witted the bunnies this time!  LOL! Those are raspberries behind the compost bin.

Granny, hope that you have fooled the bunnies this time.

I have to put up a fence to keep them out. I had the rabbit from he!! one year, he insisted on jumping the fence and it was really high. So far this year, none have done that.

I have been very busy in the garden mostly weeding.  I did finally get green beans planted for the first time yesterday.  Here are a couple of pictures of my main harvest so far this week.

You will find this little piles all over my garden.  As I weed I pile them to be picked up and removed at a later date.

That trailer is full of grass from the vegetable gardens.  I can't get grass to grow for a lawn but it sure does fine in my vegetable gardens.

However the garden is progressing but of course way behind any of the rest of you.

Russet potatoes.  They came up a little patchy here.  They were an after thought so they are scattered around the garden where ever I could finds a spot to put them in.

Jersey Giant a large plum Italian paste.  These are from seed I saved last year.

Shelling beans.  Again from seed I saved from last years crop.

Another large Italian Plum tomato that I call DI.  The seed originally was given to me by a friend.  His family got the seed from an Italian neighbor who brought them from Italy with them.  This they are named after the friend that gave them to me.  There is also some brussels sprouts there and volunteer potatoes.

Things are scattered all over my garden since I am growing all heirloom to help prevent the possibility of cross pollination.  I will take more pictures as I find the vegetables in the grass.

Sorry I have not been participating.  I went to look for cabbage and broccoli sets and they just planted the seed (guess I'll do my own but not much luck like in winter), Bet your potatoes look better than mine, I just planted ones growing in my kitchen cabinet a couple weeks ago (figured I might as well) and they have surfaced the ground LOL  Sweet potatoes are doing good in the tub, tomatoes seem to be doing well as ate quite a few, zuchinni and squash I've had to give some away they are growing so well, onions are not as good of crop as I had hoped, beans I hope the bush will produce something soon, runners and cucumbers are just now vining.  3 cabbage are gone to sauerkraut (1 to the compost it was bad), all broccoli and califlower (besides 1 each that are so straggly LOL).  Oh well, think I have butternut squash growing from the compost pile. HAHA

Del my volunteer potatoes in one of my raised beds are really doing supper.  I have found more space in the garden and went looking today and have quite a few of last years potatoes that we didn't eat that are really sprouted and guess what they are going in the garden.

GO for it.  I need to pull garlic, its brown and done!  LOL  I'm just not canning a lot of things this year, don't use it so why do it.  Will freeze some beans to see if I like them that way, sauerkraut, salsa, bread and butter pickles and maybe some juice or whole tomatoes or sauce and maybe make up some cabbage rolls and freeze for lunch or stuffed peppers. Otherwise, eating what comes out or giving it to someone who will appreciate having it to eat. Of course I will freeze some onions chopped and peppers chopped too as I use them all winter.

I am not crazy about cut green beans frozen but I do French style and freeze them to make green bean almondine and like them.

I picked sugar snap peas today. Looks like the lettuce is ready for another picking, and I still have to thin the rest of the row of Swiss Chard. I found some little 3" pickles, so it won't be long until they are ready. Can't wait for creamed cucumbers and onions.

There is a good chance of rain  over the weekend, so I am going to plant another hill of cucs, more onions sets, and more Black-seeded Simpson.

Oh yeh, forgot to say that I am going to have quite a crop of dill. I gave a bunch of it away last year, and they are asking if I will have more.
