I went to look at a rental close to my DD's place yesterday, besides the guy telling me everything he did not want in the mobile home, which he trumped up as being a castle in his eyes, but in my book the place needed work and was not worth the monthly fee he was asking plus all the extra fees for this that and the other thing *can we say rip off?*, I casually asked him, so how much extra do you charge to breath in the mobile home?  He just looked at me like I had 3 eyes and a horn coming out of my head. LOL

Hmmm, there isn't much good humor down yonder in the backwoods of WV. No wonder this place made the top spot as the U.S.'s most miserable state.

*LOL*

LOL!  You'll find something sooner or later!  Hopefully, sooner!  How did your job interview w/ the state park go?  Anymore thoughts of getting some help to fix up the mobile home that your son owns?  You should just have some big work parties there and make it your home!

wish I could cheer you up Bon, but I can't think of a redneck joke offhand

That is kind of humorous!  I guess you'll have to make your own humor!

When I moved from Md. to Tn. in 1988 I said the same thing.  No sense of humor.  Even  my DH agreed with me & it was his hometown.  LOL  I think it is just a different kind of sense of humor.  They don't seem to get tongue -in-cheek sarcasm.    And I have a somewhat sarcastic type  sense of humor.  But I did love the area & the people were all very friendly.

You are good with the jokes Bonnie!  I bet he wondered who/what he was listening, too.  He probably wasn't smart enough to figure out what you were talking about.  Chalk it up to a redneck!!!  Wonders never cease!  I bet he did think it was a "castle"; wouldn't know the difference I am sure except for the dollars he could get monthly and stuff them in his pocket.

Do hope you can find something soon that is half way decent and affordable.  Have you heard from BloomersWVa lately?

Let every day be a good day!

What's the difference between a northern fairy tale
and a West Virginia fairy tale?

A northern fairy tale begins "Once upon a time..."

A West Virginia fairy tale
 begins 'Y'all ain't gonna believe this s__ t...

Bon, a lot of this might be plain old home sickness for Jersey!  I believe it will pass soon and before you know it, you'll even be talking like them down there in them thar hills!  LOL!    Take a few trips to a real city to do some shopping soon and maybe get tog w/ your b&b buddy who lives near you.  I loved going to college at WVU.  We used to call Morgantown, WV, "Morganhole!"  lol!lol!

Hi Bon, long time no talk. LOL

Honestly I think it's culture shock (seriously) not necessarily W.VA but the location of W.VA that you are in. I don't think it's your way of life and I doubt that it ever will be. On top of which your son has decided to move back to Jersey, and that was ONE of the reasons you made the move in the first place.. I wish you could find a way to go back to your old job and way of life or at least make peace with the move. That's all I've got to offer on the subject for what it's worth.

Bon, hang in there.  It'll grow on you.  I don't mean the moss.

I think LuvsD is right, too.
