if any of you have not sen a guyabera It is called a

mexican wedding shirt because of the heat, it is supposed to replace a dress coat, popular in Tropics

Are you sure there is no pocket (faked pocket-just to look like a pocket) or has it been stitched shut and was never opened up? Look inside the shirt to see if the double layer of material is there for a pocket. If the material is there you may only need a seam ripper to open the pocket flap up, but if there is no double layer of material there for the pocket, that's a whole different problem. You would have to create a pocket and that won't be easy. It could be done but unless you are really good with a sewing machine, don't bother trying it; matching the thread won't be easy either.

Before you try to make a  decision, I'd take the shirt to a fabric store and see what fabrics are available in the colors you are talking about.  By comparing the fabrics to the shirt, you will be able to see which ones will work and which won't.

If you are going to put patch pockets on, that shouldn't be hard for anyone who sews.  If you want set in pockets, that's another story.

I am sorry to have bothered all of you with my silly question about color contrast on pocketless shirt! Just seems natural to ask real people and also consider you friends! What I should have done was go to internet, Just did! Was surprised to find out Purple and orange , green and purple were big winners!Surprise

Yes, they 'are' patch pockets and can make them sew easy

I don't think it was a silly question!   I think whatever color appeals to you is the one to use.
