Can anyone tell me where to find the plans to make a traffic light bird house? I saw one on the web and now I cannot find it anywhere. I know it is pretty basic, but the front of it has a template to cut the front of the can to overhang the opening and that is what i need to get, and also the cutting tools needed to do this.
Found this hunting around..
I am glad that the cans are just the entrance....can you imagine how hot those would be in the sun?
I wouldn't want to cook the poor birds...I would hang this in the shade.I would use an entrance of only 1 1/8 inches ...for wrens and other small birds, but keep house sparrows out.
Thanks so much for your help. I didn't make myself understood about the bird house. The overhang and the front were the only part that would be made from the coffee can. That is why I need the template and design. (more so for the dimensions).
Just 'wing it" what have you got to loose? try placing a baseball cap over can and trace it! or it your head just a 'hat rack"?
You could also cut the can lid off with a can opener then cut out a piece of wood to fit into the opening with a hole drilled in it.
Speaking of cans, An old friend of mine gave me this Tin lady made from coffee can, and sardine cans and veggie cans,, She's a little beat up but you can get the jest of it,, I have seen the Tin Man before but never seen a Tin lady like this,,, Her skirt is tin too ,,
Like the Tin Lady. So bright and would get anyone's attention. A great addition for a porch or whatever!
Let every day be a good day!
