If I want to trade seeds, etc; I'll just do it in this forum with people I know & trust.  Seems like the seed swap people are not really interested in trading seeds at all (Or maybe it's just me?).  They will post that they have seeds available.  Then when you reply you never hear anything from them again.  I have 3 different people over there right now that I responded to & requested their address/PM so we can trade & no response from either of them.   One did respond & said they were interested, then asked me what size box (didn't really understand that question) & could we do it parcel post?  Hellloo, we can't do anything if I don't have an address.  Another person took forever to respond & I'm still waiting g on her address too.  I've asked both these people a couple of times.  I give up.,  Does anybody here trade over there?  Do you have this problem?  I did see where Kim asked somebody what color Daylilies she had & never got an answer.  Same person I'm trying to contact.

I have never been over there. I get ,more than enough seeds from the people on this board, I sure don't need any more. I spend enough time right here I don't have time to go to any of the other boards.

Gayle, when I first started coming here to the flower board I would go to the seed swap board.  I know who you are talking about on one of these persons. When her mom first started I did a trade with here and had no problems, received her seeds right away. Now, I don't know.  So, like you I 'm staying right here and ask for seeds when they are offered over here. Seems like a totally different group of people over there.

I did a little over there but never had a problem.  It is a quiet board most of the year.  Haven't even looked there this year.

Well I won't do plant swaps with newcomers over there anymore, I know that sounds bad but I got burned bad this spring by two people, sent out my plants, they kept giving excuses and just never sent what was promised and disappeared.  Its not really about the plants, its the principal. I could have taken that postage money and bought myself the plants. LOL

I used to but so many that you never see their side of the exchange and was on a seed train, what a joke, most of the stuff was pure junk, not the seed and there were a few that liked to start arguments so I stay away from there now.....Kathy

I had one experience.  I got the seeds but none of them germinated.  They must have been from the 19th century.....LOL  Never again.

I often go there to read and noticed that so many of the posts are from newcomers just hopping aboard on their first post wanting seeds. I will trade there if it is someone from here that I know. Last year sent seeds to 3 or 4 new people on the swap and never got a thank you or anything saying they had received the seeds.

Now this board is so much different, always get a thank you when the seeds have arrived. I do like well mannered people and that's what we have here. :-)

We learn by trial and error. :-)

You are certainly welcome.  Let me know how they do.  I've never tried them before.

Well, I was just over there recently and am sending two people who requested some milkweed seeds.

They emailed me with thier address-     I'ts scary leaving our addresses online because there are folks who collect people's mailing addresses for dishonest reasons, and I don't feel comfortable asking people to post their mailing address  or emails on the forum for everyone to see.

I saw the post about Milkweed seeds but didn't read it.  You're right about the address thing.  You should never post your address or even E-Mail addy online.  You do it thru the PM function where nobody else can see it.  I can't get these people to even respond after they offered seeds & agreed to a trade.  You responded & followed thru, they aren't doing that.

I have also had problems with one that has a long list. I sent stamps for postage and never received anything. Months went by and another list shows up. She claims she never got postage so I sent again never received anything and now won't responed to any of my PM's. So I have given up. Will just save my money and go buy them.

Just remember that every time you sent seeds to someone , even if you dont get seeds in return, it still makes the world a better place to live , and it does help if you know the person you are trading with , most all of us do know each other on here and know we will follow through on our trades , but noone should post their addy on line as you are leaving yourself wide open for intruders .if you do post a email addy post a throw away one on here . JMP.

Yes never post your address on any of these forums here. One person in veggie made the mistake of posting her email address over there and a person with problems got her address and sent her some threatening emails. The emails were traced back using the IP address to one of the regulars on the B&B forums.
