I have been here and there looking for some tricks to turn my bowling ball into something pretty for the garden. Can someone tell me how to smear the GEII silicone onto the ball and how thick it should be to hold those marbles?
Also what else do you use, broken tiles, old plates, etc., for mosiac effect?
Some tips would be greatly appreciated here folks.
Warmest wishes from Central Wisconsin,

You might want to ask this question in Backyard Projects. There's a thread there titled "Gazing Ball" about making gazing balls from bowling balls.
I checked my craft folder. I don't have the instructions. Hope someone can help you.
I just put a dab on the half marble and stuck it on, But a tip I learned is to start the row at the bottom not the top,and let them set up or you will have them slipping down on you,
You know, I wondered about that too, this is the kind of TIP I am looking for, the forum for garden projects, doesnt' have that sort of tips at all, just what they have done, sorta braggy I think, but would like some real info about the projects is all.
I don't know where my quick reply went, but thanks Resa, this is the sort of TIP that I am referrring to, and the projects forum seems kinda braggy about what they made, and not much info to be gleaned there.
In Google, if you put 'directions for making bowling ball into gazing ball' there are some pretty neat pictures there, and lots of good tips & hints.
Use your broken tiles, etc., on clay flower pots too.......really dresses them up! :)
Use a popcicle stick to put it on with. Or i use a battery powered caulk gun it is so nice. Have fun making them.
The next phase is going to transpire the way it suppose to transpire.
Here's one I did a few years ago I did it on a faded gazing ball. it used to be a fountain but it wasn't working and we were going to throw it away, it has even been left outside and it's wintered out over for 2 years now,
Nice job gal, thanks for sharing!

Resa, what did you use on the smashed marbles to adhere them? I tried doing that on a cow skull and found my " hot glue" didn't hold up. The skull's hanging in the barn and I think I should start over to make it right, many of the marbles fell off.
Terry
I used clear silicone,
Thanks Resa, I used that on all kinds of automotive and home projects , I'll get a tube and give it a try on the cow skull.
I have used it on several projects and it worked every time.
Good luck/
