He found out yesterday but I was in bed by the time he got home last night, so I got to hear about it today. I had mentioned last year that his company laid off almost 45% of their workforce on christmas eve day, kind of a bummer since they did not rehire those employees and on christmas eve at that to let your employees go is just rotten, and those left were forced to pick up the work of all those missing workers, which actually meant son made a decent amount of money the beginning of the year, but was working his tail off doing it. Anyhow, he just found out he might be getting laid off before the holidays.

That will be 3 of us here out of work-- not good news. Although at least he has his part time job delivering pizza 3 nights a week, he knew this lay off was bound to happen as the rumors were going around work so found a part time job just in case. He's been working there only 2 weeks though, but its a busy place so hopefully they will keep him on.

Well, that stinks. I'm so sorry to hear this. I have nothing to say. Keep your chin up, and everything will work out seems like so many empty words, and they are.

I will be thinking of you if nothing else.

Sad  saddness all around, it is terrible.  I'm clinging  on to hope but I feel more helpless every day.

I think I know more family and friends out of work than working   :-(

I wish us all work soon.

Well, in the event our world falls apart from all of us being jobless, the 3 of us know how to rough it. Son's been to survival camp several times, DD was a GS for 10 years and I can get by with very little, so I'm sure we can muddle through it. My tent better just have a heater though.

LOL

Bless his heart. Sorry to hear this. What a Grinch Company  to lay their employees off on Christmas Eve. How awful. Its bad enough without being told on that day. Glad he has a part time job. Maybe it will turn into full time if he needs it to or he will find another job if he does get laid off.  I hope he doesn't. Will keep you and  your family in my prayers.

Nothing looks good anymore.  Everyday people and places laying off or closing.

Let every day be a good day!

That is just awful.  How can companies do that.  Don't they have a heart.  Why not wait until after the holidays.  Or what if they could just start by cutting a few hours or maybe a day and give everyone a chance to make at least some money.

What I don't understand is that in the news they talk about recovery.  It sure does not sound like it.  Every day you hear more and more people unemployed.  How are people managing..........?

Let's hope that something possitive comes your way, for you DS and for you DD.  Praying for you.  One never knows.  Maybe someone will hear me.

I don't see how they can say there is any recovery. Its not some magical thing that happens overnight. The damage is done and getting worse every day it seems. I don't listen to the press, they report one thing and then turn around and report the total opposite. The dow is up and down, up and down, unemployment down but then reported to be the worst since the early 80's, first time homeowners are up, foreclosures are up, so who do you believe? More people lose their houses and jobs every day, so where is the recovery? I am interested to see what is going on in Congress. I'm just wondering when the house will fall down all the way, its already crumbling. lol

i am so sorry to hear this. it just seems that everyone is getting laid off or is looking for a job or out of wqrk, ijust do not know what people are going to do. it just breaks my heart to see this country in this shape. they call it a recession, i call it a depression  and i do not think we  have hit the bottom yet. everyone i know is dealing with hard times.
