Thanks for the reminder.  I'm going to take mine out on my way outside to get the mail.

So why not put it in a sinkful of water to thaw?  To me this way is safer than letting it thaw in the fridge for days.  Happy Thanksgiving to you all, when it comes................Elaine

  • I'm going to take my 24 lb turkey out of the freezer tomorrow and put it in the fridge. Then the last day, if it isn't thawed through, I will put it in a pan of cold water to finish.  I think I'm going to go ahead and make my dinner rolls ahead and then just warm them up on Thanksgiving instead of waiting till the last minute too.  Too many things to remember for my wittle bwain.  Oh yes, got to get the bread ready to make the dressing too.  Maybe I need to get my list started!

That's what I'm doing with mine Sandy...it's over 24 also...so I figured I'd still have a VERY cold bird...and if not fully thawed...can use the water trick in the end...

....so AEGS..I'll probably do it BOTH ways!...LOL

My 26 pounder has been on the top shelf of fridge defrosting since last Friday.   Its just now starting to thaw.   I keep my fridge very cold.................not quite freezing...........just VERY cold.   I figure with the opening and closing of the door all day, one needs to keep those temp fluctuations in mind.    It should be just right by next Thursday and if the cavity is still frozen, a little cold water should fix that fast.
