They have been threatening to go out of business for years....yet here K-Mart still sits.
I got some really nice toys for DGS there yesterday, and even found some pretty holiday towels. I haven't been in a K-mart in years, and didn't hear any "Attn Blue Light shoppers". This store was clean. I was most certainly lost, as it isn't laid out to my liking....No signs above the aisles, so it was kind of hit and miss. I went in looking for a certain Lego set for DGS, and by golly, they had it, AND on sale.
I am shamed to admit.....I gave in to impluse. There were 'bed in a bag' sets. I have twin beds in the guest room, and bought 2 twin sets with a Christmas theme. Rather juvenile, and no one will sleep on them, but I could not resist. Cheap, but cute. For some odd reason, I also bought several cans of Vienna Sausage. Why?....I can't explain it. I remember DS just LOVED Vienna Sausage when he was little, so maybe it will be a gag gift for him.
My goodness...I'm an idiot!

No way! Sounds like you had fun :)
Vienna Sausages are good fixed with 1 small size apple jelly and 1 small size mustard. Heat the jelly and mustard in a crockpot and add vienna sausages. Great appetizer or snack food and crockpot on low keeps it warm for serving! One of the teachers at school where I worked used to fix these for our Christmas luncheon we had yearly.
Let every day be a good day!
Our K-Mart went out of business and closed their doors for good last Sunday. Now all we have is a Wal-Mart in town.
I'm with Lizzie...NO way you had fun!
Our K-mart is still open not sure how but it is~~~laid back shopping cause no ones there. I've always liked K-mart.

Sounds like you had fun shopping.
Ours is still open, but the parking lot is always looks very empty. On Monday we hit all 3 stores(KMart, WM, and Shopko) looking for a new mirowave. We hit KMart 1st(as it was the 1st one on way into town). At the end, we ended up back there for it. I didn't like what the other 2 stores had.

For a while after they came out of bankruptcy they closed stores across the country that were not profitable. Then they bought Sears. And I dont'[ know the status of the company anymore since I don't pay attention to the stock market. LOL Shopping at Kmart is different now without the blue light specials isn't it. And yes they have started taking better care of the stores as in keeping them cleaner . In my town we have 2 stores one on the southeast side and one on the northwest side. I like the layout of the northwest store much better than the other. It has the perfect setup as far as I can tell. Its almost set up like a box with about 5 to 6 aisles in total.
Ours has been closing for 15 years and its still there. I don't know how they stay in business though, they barely have any employees, always have just one line open, but they do have some ok things. I have bought my bra's there, the kmart Pink ones. They wash well and are cheap.
I hadn't been in a Kmart for years until today. It's about an hour and a half drive for me and just outside the city of Charleston, WV. I was on my way to see my husband in the hospital and stopped there to get him a few things. I was really impressed with that store. It was nothing like the Kmart's I have been in before. It was very clean and well stocked. I think it does a good business because it is a really easy access off the interstate before getting into the city. I bragged on the store to the checkout clerk. She said that she was going to tell the manager what I said. I for sure wouldn't mind going shopping there again sometime.
