For those that don't know my nephew had a bone marrow transplant a few months ago. This is is second one. Last one was about 15 years ago for Nonhodgkins Lymphoma and now he developed leukemia because the transplant was so old. So he has been in and out of the hospital since last spring waiting for a donor. Finally got one and had the transplant. Things are going great and they think he will be able to come home for Christmas. He has been in the hospital in Calgary, where they do the BM transplants so his family have been travelling back and forth from Edmonton to Calgary to take turns to look after him.
So everyone is looking forward to Christmas. His two boys (twins) will be so glad to finally have their Dad home, and so will we all.
Albertagran, that is great news about your nephew!! You will have a very special Christmas!

So glad he is doing so good. Glad the kids and everyone else will have dad home for Christmas.
So happy to hear that you will all be able to enjoy the Holiday together! I Pray he will continue to recover, with Lightening Speed!
That is wonderful news. Just last week Extreme Home Makeover let the lady who survived due to a bone marrow transplant actually meet her donor and they had a drive and it made me think. Makes you think I need to register as a donor.

Jack will be told who is donor was in two years. I don't know why- but there is some kind of logic behind it. Anyway who ever it was is an angel don't you think. He was really getting ready to die, and considering he has twin boys 17 years of age he has a lot to live for. Our neighbor at the lake had a heart transplant 23 years ago and is still alive. I was working at the hospital (Radiology) at the time and I knew who his donor was. They had to xray the patient, plus the donor (deceased of course) , in order to assure that the donors heart was the right size for the patient, and I knew all along that it was the heart of a 17 year old motorcycle victim. It is amazing isn't it. Frank (our neighbor) is still doing great. He had to have pacemaker inserted last year, but otherwise he is doing fine. I am always amazed when I talk to him. What a lucky guy.
What a great Thanksgiving you guys will have this year. I am registered as a donor and never thought twice about it. Just think some day I might help someone live a greater quality of life or even maybe life itself.
Good to hear you are a registered donor. My two daughters and my son are too, and they are blood donors also, and I was a blood donor until I became diabetic, because we are all AB+ which is quite rare. Also most of my GC except for one grandson are also AB+. Isn't that amazing. At one time I needed several pints a day of blood and some days they couldn't get the blood for me. Now we have a whole family......
Thats really great news Gran.
