For you folks starving for Hummer pictures!

It is still pretty lively at my place in Tacoma, WA. 3-4 fighting in the backyard feeder & two fighting for the front yard feeder. Wonder where the losers go?

This is the first time I've seen 2 at the feeder at the same time! Maybe tired of fighting all the time? If you look close at the first photo, you'll see two of them arguing. There was 4 of them at once, but I wasn't fast enough to capture it.

Forever watching his feeder!

This was taken at dusk. Won Editors Choice with it too here:

I'll post the activity going on it in the front yard later. Two different hummers there!

Ok, here are two shots from yesterday.

Two different hummers at the front yard feeder. A male and female.

And I found out where he is hiding way in the bushes...

Your hummingbird pictures are just stunning, Jack, just stunning.

If I didn't know any better, I'd think they were quite large birds! Wink

Well, I woke up before dawn this morning and was getting my coffee ready and was looking out the backyard window as there was a fain light, right before dawn.... thought I saw something on the feeder.... kept looking and sure enough, there was a little hummer setting there. Half hour later, she was still there, never moved when it became light. I think she spent the night there. LOL

Anyways, the male showed up, right above her as if saying "Wake Up!" and then landed next to her on the feeder and proceeded to slurp. Another hummer tried coming in, but the male chased him off and came back. So it must be mates? 5 minutes later, they left.

Later, in the front yard feeder, there was also a male and female there. The male ran off a couple others trying to sneak in, but lets her stay. These are the two that came in within a few minutes of each other... kinda like they're saying "hi" to me, then feeding.

Wow, Jack!  I don't usually come to this forum but I really want to now cause spring isn't far away and I want to learn to attract more hummers to my yard.  I only saw 2 last year total and a neighbor saw a couple of them also.  I thought I had a hb nest in the pine trees here but it got knocked down by either a critter or a storm.  I would love to attract more hummer to my yard.  Any tips.  I have the hb feeder thing.

Get that feeder up now and keep it fresh... change it once a week and more often as it gets warmer. Give it time and they will come. Usually one will claim the feeder and run all the other ones off except the female. I've got three feeders around the house out of sight and they all have a male/female that have claimed each feeder. I have post much in this category because it is slow, but have been posting regular pics in the bird-watching  category.

For those starving for hummer photo's!
