what is this bird

We seen this Bird at Beauvis Lake in SW Alberta, Canada, (north of Waterton NP).

Can anyone help me to identify it?        Thank you

Hi there,

Hard to tell with the shadows, but my first guess is a Pine Siskin.  Was there any yellow on it?

Pine Siskin or female House Finch. If there was yellow on the wings than it was a Pine Siskin. If it did not have any yellow, than it was a House Finch.

I'll go with the Pine Siskin the beak is way too pointy for a House Finch.

Pine Siskin sounds correct, though I didn't see any yellow on the wings, but that was probably because of the lighting. I didn't look at the beak before, but will look at it again, and note that in my mind for the next mystery bird.

I thought there was a bit of yellow on the rump when I looked at the enlarged pic. Hard to tell though.

I agree whit that, but I don't remember any yellow and I thought the bird was to dark.
