My mom's mom made the absolute best hot rolls you would ever taste. Her recipe went with her, but I don't think she had one. I would sit on the cabinet on Sat. and watch her make the rolls for Sunday lunch. The saddest thing for me was after she'd been gone long enough that her house didn't smell like heaven when you opened the door. I just hated when the smell finally faded away.

My dad's mom made carmel pies from scratch. Oh man did I love those. And I can actually make them myself from my daddy's recipe.

I remember everything my mom's mom made looked like a picture. My dad's mom usually had flat merigues and plain crusts. But they were both great cooks.

My paternal grandmother didn't cook a thing as best I can remember. She was sickly and lived with her various children.

It was my maternal grandmother that I was very close to and that cooked. She was raised in a house that had a full time cook,so she had to learn on her own when she married a Navy man at 26.She said until then, she had never been in the kitchen except to steal sweets, lol. She did make the best bisquits, waffles and pancakes. They were always light and fluffy. She and my Granddaddy used to make fig preserves every year that were out of this world and I've yet to taste anything that comes even close to their preserves. I didn't eat it because I don't like most seafood, but people used to rave about her coquina stew and baked flounder with almond stuffing.

My grandma made the best Rubard Pie, she passed away when I was only 13, I loved her dearly and was so sad to loose her at such a young age, she was only 64.
