I am coming up on my 2nd anniversary here in the backyard. This is the only place on my computer I have ever been . I get dissapointed sometimes that so many folks have gone from here. There was when I first came here , a certain sense of community , old and new friends , a sense of sharing. i know the economy has a lot to do with it , But we would send things back and forth to each other, . I recently sent out 3 books 2 of which were hardbacks and a bit spendy to mail , but I love to share. Stelios is the only one who acknowledged that she had gotten hers , the other two , I have no idea and that dissappoints me , OH, well . life goes on/ GMZ
I know there are times when I just plain get busy with life.
I now have 2 great grand children living here and they take a lot of my time.
I did join facebook because that's where my family all are on but I don't like it and find if they want to talk to me they can use my email or call me.
I know there are a lot of people here but nothing like facebook. if I wanted the world to know I would go to facebook but I don't. I like it here it is like family.Even when we disagree it's like a family disagreement. But when someone is hurting its like having family right at our finger tips.
"Never" to return... Never is a longggg time. I do hope those that have left will find their way back. I have to say that I had no idea that lots of people here post on numerous forums within the Community. It seemed funny to go looking in different forums and find so many familiar names. I guess I thought people generally picked a forum that appealed most to them and pretty much stayed there. Nay... not so!
** My post has likely been edited 5 or 6 times for spelling or grammar, and is quite likely still incorrect.
This is the only board I have time for right now.
I REALLY miss Mirry--and others :(
I was just thinking the other day how the forum seems to almost be a ghost town compared to what it used to be a few years ago. I really miss so much about the way it used to be. There was a time when you could post a question, a request for advice, etc. and have a response in moments. There were so many people and most of them were nice. I would go over to Kitchen Chat sometimes, but there were always a few mean and catty types over there ruining what could be a pleasant experience.
I'm not much of a Facebook fan either.
I do enjoy the flower garden board, birdwatching board, Backyard advice and Thrifty Backyard there. I find plenty of boards to lurk on just on these forums and groups offered here. I don't have anymore time to go anywhere else, even if I wanted to. I do miss many of the oldies, but everyone does their own thing.
I can't believe how some people spill all their beans out on other websites; personal, intimate etc. I am a private person and don't want to discuss that type of stuff and I don't think cyberspace is the place to air it all. There is nothing kept private when you are in cyberspace. Too much info is transmitted all over the place to the world that really is nobody else's business. I guess some don't have anyone else to tell but the whole wide world. To each his own.
So I don't do facebook, Twiddle dee-dee or whatever it is called. LOL
Let every day be a good day!
cyber...this is why some have left......because they didn't get a response when they posted here. So, I guess many chat room buddies thought if no one is going to respond to my post I might as well go elsewhere or forget coming here. IMO..chat rooms are for people who would like to chat with someone, but when no one responds to your post then it is fruitless to come here. It is nice when someone replies to your post, and it does not have to be someone you have grown to know here. I would post more here, but it takes so darn long for the window to open up since I got the "slower DSL" .....lol.

yes, on the "old" board, the posts seemed to fly fast and posts were answered quickly
now the pages just seem to drag by :(
I miss the old board too
I miss the people who have left
I know someone told me a majority of old posters went to facebook and they sent me an invite which I declined.
I have no intentions on joining facebook just because everyone else has gone there. My DD has a facebook and I absolutely do not need to revisit the past with a bunch of unknown school mates that I had no interest in then, don't like the layout and don't need to know when everyone is taking a 5 minute toilet break every time they take one. Besides, I find FB to be intimidating with their terms, the "once you join this site everything of yours is ours and everyone on the planet will know you have a FB" kind of thing.Yea I know its private. My DD's FB is private, but that does not stop kids she went to school with sending her all kinds of crap all day long and invites. and one psychopath who is stalking her nonstop.
To each their own.
I have a hard enough time just finding time in my day to check email lately. lol
well....I wasn't going to ask this question, but since we're talking about the board and it's members, I guess I will. May not get an answer though. LOL
When reimans takes a post ( a tip) from here and publishes it in one of their magazines..do they have to get your permission to use your real name along with your username (nickname) in the article?
I'm a bit of a private person also, and I don't think I'd like that. Just wondering.
I don't like change when it isn't needed and that's JMO of our BY now. It drags and people leave. I'm forcing myself to stay cause after 7 or 8 yrs. here this month I have come to care so much for friends here. This format is just not the comfy homey feeling though anymore. I know I'm not the only one that feels it.
Kinda sad. I remember the days the BB was the same AND we were able to post pictures.
That is the BB I think was great!
I hope our friends MIA will stumble back and STAY!
Dee
When my nickname and My legal name was used in the B&B mag, Reimans didnot ask my permission, I have a feeling that once we register here and post here we are under the domain of Reimans , and I did get an acknowledgement in the mail after the fact and also a $25 Check as a reward . so I am OK with it. Grannamumzee
GMZ..see I don't understand that...because it goes against their privacy policy.
Under the" terms of use" they strongly recommend you don't give out private information such as name, location, and other personal information.
Guess I'll have to make a mental note not to post any useful tips on the boards. Because I wouldn't like that. Anyone reading the magazine could go to the board and know who you are. So what's the point in usernames? Maybe we should just all use our real names to begin with. LOLI know some here post their pictures along beside their nicknames and I don't understand why. But that's a personal choice. It just seems that Reimans needs to change their terms of use if it's not so private. Don't let some of us assume it's private when it's not. JMO I know I'm not a very sophisticated, worldly person...but I like it like that!! LOL
I enjoy BC so very much although I don't always respond to some of the threads. I do not like facebook and have no intention of getting involved with it. I was once on another chat room but it wasn't for me. I like the lighter side of life instead of getting into the deep end of politics or always putting someone down. This is much nicer as are the folks here.
Nancy
I SO agree Dee!
HUGS! Hey, remember when we "hugged" everyone all the time--LOL
