It's November now, and we need something warm and cheery to look at, so why not share our colorful butterfly photos!  :)

My pic of a butterfly catching some morning sun.

Hi Naturelover,   your photo is very nice.  I love the blue on the butterfly.

That is a beautiful Red-spotted Purple butterfly. I haven't seen any in Florida where I live. Is the butterfly large or medium sized?

the RSP lives in forested areas and woodland edges.  They are medium in size.

mcjughead,  nice butterfly pic!    Elizabeth,   too bad you don't have them there, but I'm sure you have plenty of pretty butterflies there in FL tho.   :)     Butterfly Sue, thanks for the info on my butterfly pic.

Great photos of the skippers!  One thing is I have more respect for these photos since these butterflies are so small.  Catching the picture and having it clear is a feat in itself.  I also like the different prospective of looking down at the butterfly.  Notice the two tone color of the antenna.  Great work!

There's some great photos here!  Below are a few from August and September 2009 from our backyard- American Lady, Cabbage White, Common Checkered Skipper, Eastern Tiger Swallowtail, Black Eastern Tiger Swallowtail, Red-banded Hairstreak, Silver Spotted Skipper and an unidentified skipper.  I tried posting clickable thumbnails.  We'll see if it works.

Those are great photos with such vibrant colors!  The thumbnails did worik.  I love the checkered skipper (haven't seen one of those).  You can see the hairs on its body.  Also, I believe the red-banded hairstreak is on clover(?).  I know hairstreaks like clover, but realizing the flower it is on and how tiny that is makes me appreciate the photo all the more.

Hello Butterfly Sue,

I have a beautiful image I would like to share but can't figure out how to upload the image. Can you help me or direct me to who can??

Thanks,

I had a hard time figuring that one out.  I have a website and I ended up figuring out how to link the photo through it.

There is a note on posting photos listed under Community TAB and FAQs.
