How about this one

Vanilla Chip Cherry Cookies Recipe

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 package (10 to 12 ounces) vanilla or white chips
  • 1 jar (10 ounces) maraschino cherries, drained and chopped

Directions

  • In a large bowl, cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in extract. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in chips and cherries.
  • Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls 2 in. apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 350° for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool. Yield: 4-1/2 dozen

I don't think that is the one she was looking for Gary but I printed yours too, because it sounds good.

I know the recipe she is talking about because I have seen it on cookie trays at different parties. It is a layered cookie , that you cut into bars.

OK LETS TRY THIS ONE.

Chocolate-Cherry Cheesecake Bars Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts
  • 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup baking cocoa
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped maraschino cherries
  • Additional maraschino cherries, halved

Directions

  • Place the flour, brown sugar and butter in a food processor; cover and process until fine crumbs form. Stir in walnuts. Set aside 3/4 cup for topping.
  • Press remaining crumb mixture onto the bottom of an ungreased 8-in. square baking dish. Bake at 350° for 10 minutes or until set.
  • Meanwhile, in a small bowl, beat the cream cheese, sugar and cocoa until smooth. Add the egg, milk and vanilla; beat on low speed just until combined. Stir in chopped cherries. Pour over crust; sprinkle with reserved crumb mixture.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until center is almost set. Cool on a wire rack for 1 hour. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  • Cut into bars; top each with a cherry half. Store in the refrigerator. Yield: 15 bars.

Thanks for all who tried.  The one I was looking for, you made the dough then divided it in thirds and added different flavoring to each third.  Layered it in pan, chilled then liced and baked.  They had a vanilla,a chocolate and a cherry layer.

The recipes I got back sound good though.
