We did get a frost last night but it is too early to tell how much damage it did to the flowers. I had the electric heater turned on in the greenhouse so I am sure everything in there is ok. NOW it is going back into the upper 60's and 70's. I guess since it is the end of the first week in Nov. I should just be happy it waited this long. Still a lot to be done outside so I will get on that as soon as it warms up a bit. Have a wonderful day everyone!

Beautiful Saturday Morning, Everyone!
We are unseasonably warm this morning and I'll take it. I just heard the weather forecaster say we will be about 15° warmer than normal for this time of the year.
I was able to slip a shoe on yesterday and made it out to take care of the birds. I saw a few things that still need to be done but I'm not sure the toe is ready for the activity they will require. Maybe I'll enlist a little help before the weather goes back to where it is supposed to be. Any sort of outside gardening when it is cold and damp is never fun.

Good morning. Another BEAUTIFUL day here again today. Yesterday it got to 70 and todays hi is 68. I may move some leaves from the bottom of my driveway where they have collected to be almost a foot high. I have my laundry hanging on the line that I need to get down since I hung it there before work yeasterday morning.
Welcome back Karen, I haven't seen you for quite a while. Did you hurt your foot somehow?

We are suppose to be in the mid 60's today and have above normal temps for the next 7 days...finally the "Indian summer" that I have been waiting for. On TV last night one man said that Indian summer was for procrastinators...they can get jobs done that they have been putting off all summer....interesting concept. Well...I have a large list of things to do, even though I never considered myself a procrastinator. lol Have a great day everyone. Charlene
Good Morning! It is 40º here now and didn't even freeze last night. There is supposed to be a nice south wind which would blow away the smell of the liquid manure they are spreading north of us, but it hasn't come up yet.
My plans were to work in the yard finishing up odd and ends. But I am fighting bronchitis and a sinus infection so need to take it easy.

Good morning all. 41º now and supposed to be dry and warming up into the 50's. It will be a nice day to get up the rest of the leaves, clean and change birdfeeders and plant some more bulbs.

I am totally amazed! The only thing that the frost got last night was some of the cannas, they are out in wide open spaces. Cobea and impatiens don't look like they were even touched. Lantana and nasturtiums going strong too. Elephant ears and bananas don't look like it bothered them either. Now it is supposed to be warm the rest of the week! I looked out awhile ago and the guy across the street that has his plants in the greenhouse was out there........watering! He loves being in the greenhouse! I was showing him the cobea and now he wants some next year!
Just a day to get some things outside finished putting away. Flowers here are long gone. Lots of birds at the feeders so I will need to refill some feeders. My DS last week finished the leaves and mulching and cleaned our eavetroughs. Just need to call the guy to come haul away all the lawn debris that is under one of the pines. Don't like to leave it there all winter; just a place for animals to hide and/or live. Have already seen a woodchuck a few weeks ago scampering through the yard and have no idea where he is living for the winter, and a skunk the other night in my front yard.

Well, no freeze or frost last night so what blooms I have left are still there, including some roses. Sunny & chilly today, themometer says 58 but it feels colder than that. I have sweats on for the first time this year. Going to take the dog for a walk in a little while, then check on the bird feeders & see if I can gather any ornamental grass seed for some of the posters in seed swap. I never even thought of doing that until somebody asked for some. Outside of that not too much going on but you know when I get into that yard I'll find something that needs to be done. I always do. I have a 6mo old tomcat that sometimes likes to go out & roam. Most of the time he stays here in the house but today was so pretty I guess he decided to go enjoy it. He went to the door & tried to reach the doorknob. I don't know what he would do with it even if he could reach it. LOL Anyway, the only problem with letting him out is that sometimes he disappears for hours & then I start to worry about him. Is he lost, did somebody pick him up, did he wander in the road & get hit. (although we have very little traffic in the area I live in) etc; So after a couple of hours I'll start calling him about every 1/2 hr or so & just when I think I'll have to go serch for him, here he comes strolling up to me with this expression like "Yeah, whadda ya want" I leave the back door to the garage open & the door to the laundry room cracked so he can come in on his own if he wants & sometimes he does. I thought about putting a pet door to the laundry room but I'm afraid of the wild critters in the area making use of it.
It was a beautiful day here, got lots of the neighbour's leaves that blew our way cleaned up, just have 2 mallows to deal with, either dig the pots in or remove and plant them.....supposed to be nice both Sunday & Monday then rain coming in again..............

Gayle, that is my same fear for one, since my dog got into it with a coon not long ago and I know they're not living but 2 lots down, my neighbor's dog would probaby pounce me in the middle of the night (I leave the back gate open, owner is an alcoholic and abuses prescription drugs so she passes out some night and when I let my dog out in the middle of the night, he sometimes comes back in with her and stays til I wake up the next day so I can't close the gate and shew, he loves to romp on the bed in excitement of staying at Del's house - not to mention being warm and comfo) and we have possums in town and I'd trip if I saw (once again) in my house. Not to mention mice might come through there too. I want her to have that freedom but I want to live in peace too. LOL

Deloris, I have always wondered about how the people who use pet doors keep out unwanted animals. Even in an urban area you would have stray cats, & dogs around. We have possums, fox, deer, mice, (those are just the ones I know of) My neighbor down the street has several outdoor cats that hang out in my yard & I have seen a snake in the garage so no pet door. I suppose the dog would keep out any uninvited gueast but I still don't trust the idea. Of course they could also come through the partially cracked laundry room door. But that is not like that 24/7 & never after dark.. Oh yeah the cat came back in on his own after about 2 hr. And to add to my earlier post. Apparently we did have a little frost last night. Some of my impatiens & some of the leaves on my Moonflower vine looked frost damaged when I went out there this morning. I don't know why some & not others but that's the way it was & yet one of my roses was still blooming.
