I mentioned it in the other post...

My dad served in WWII and for many years after. He retired (Air Force) in 1963. He went to work for Civil Service here at Holloman AFB, and DH was stationed here when I met him. He retired 23 years ago, after serving for 21 years.

I'm sorry cancer took your dad so young.

My DH is a veteran of WWII.  He went in when he was only 15.  I've seen pictures of him and it was obvious that he was too young. He was a paratrooper in the 511th Regiment of the 11th Airborne Division.

I had 2 uncles on my mom's side and 2 uncles on my dad's side in WWII.  One of my brothers was in Viet Nam.  I was stationed in the States my whole tour.  DS#1 is inIraq on 2nd tour.  DS#2 and DS#3 are both in the National Guard and have served tours overseas, Kuwait, Bosnia and Iraq.

My DH is a veteran in good health (except for back) and my BIL is a veteran and a victim of agent orange, but still with us, even though he has cancer.
