I have quite a few cameras and would love to use them all but I hate having to have so many different areas to download too. Like my kodak camera has the kodak site and the canons I have all need a different canon site. Is there one downloading area that you can use all your cameras? I would just like to download and have them all together and not have so many . If I get a new computer where you put the memory card in, do you still need the special sites for different cameras?
Let me know if you don't understand my question and I will try and explain it better.
If you use Picasa (don't know of any other, name a few if you do) can I use all cameras?
I have a HP Photoshop printer that I can put any size memory card in it and it goes to the HP Photoshop site. If I try to do it from a Canon or Kodak camera it goes directly their site. Sorry I'm not much help!
I have a similar situation. I'm starting to accumulate a few cams around here now, all wanting me to use their various software. I am going to see if a camera someone gave me w/out the software will use the software I have from my Pentax. An older Vivitar cam actually will take to the Pentax software I have downloaded. Will be interesting to see what happens. Wonder who here might know the ans. to your quest Sherry. I'll ask Dan Garber or Bhowdy.

My cameras will not use the same software, I tried. even the canon....because it is a SLR, and it wants me to use the other one than the SX10IS......there has got to be some type of software that takes all types and sizes of files.
Sherry, I obviously re edited my comment above your last comment. lol! I will check it out at QVC to see if they have something and I'm betting that they do. Someone wants our money for software or hardware for that sort of thing!
With any camera I use I just plug up the usb to the computer (or put the card in the card reader sometimes) and then click on my computer, go to the camera on the usb, and copy and paste to any folder I want. I have never like using special software for each camera. I use Photoshop for editing. I never loaded any software for my cameras, including my newest, which is a canon. I think my older camera was an Olympus, which my son has now. I have also used a several at work and do the same thing.
Sorry I can't help you much, I guess.

Grandmaof2, that sounds like it could work for me, too. I have an acct w/ Photoshop but could never get used to it and didn't like it that much. Maybe I should give it another look. Thanks!!!
I do the same as Grandmaof2, I transfer the pictures from either the card or the camera to a folder without using any software from the camera.
Picassa should work fine with pictures from any camera. Any of the photo sites will accept pictures from any digital camera.

Well I have downloaded three different cameras using the same software. They all work with Picasa as well. The cameras would be Marg's Panasonic, a Nikon D70s, and a Nikon D300.

I use a memory card reader to do all my downloading. They can read several different cards and work great. It costs around $10-$12 dollars. Then I do my editing in Picasa software which is free. If I need more serious editing I take it further.

Thank you Sue, I didn't realize you could get a memory card reader. I will check into it. But can you use it with different cameras?
I have a memory card reader that has 4 slots in it. For SD, CF, XD and MS cards. I plug it into a USB port on my laptop, and then insert the card into the proper slot on the reader. My cameras have nothing to do with the reader---only the cards.
I have never downloaded the software that came with my cameras. My pictures always go into "My Pictures" and that is where I find them.
