I like to have a candle burning on the top of the stove (where I know it is safe or safer, maybe is the word) if I am not using the stove to cook on during the daytime. Need to go through some of mine to see what scents I have. Some are strong which I like even though they have Christmasy names to them.

Hello posynut, I can't burn candles because not good for my birds,but ihave an apple pie candle that i just open the jar in living room and can smell the aroma! after birds are covered up for night,my daughter makes them for xmas gifts. Mary in Ky 12.05pm

I used to burn YC's all the time when I was smoking-mostly in here ('puter room). Now that I'm not smoking, I burn them very rarely.
I have soooo many candles from YC (the big ones-22 oz.) I'll never run now. Just counted them..14.
My favorite(s) areCranberry Chutney and Black Cherry.

I had votic and 3 boxes of candles of YC and homemade cadles dh drove me too in another state,even , but even have the jar candles but just do not feel safe anymore,
I love the smells and does my DH. but eyee dr. says the burning would dry out my eyes more. so what's a gal to do???[:'(]

I do like the scent of some candles but they can be over-powering. My ex-husband was a volunteer fire-fighter and also a home builder. Between those two things, he really urged me to never burn candles, no matter what the ads said.
They had so many homes burn down because people forgot the candle was burning and left, or went to bed with it lit. The paraffin and other things in candles also coat the inside of your home and your ceiling with worse stuff to clean than cigarette smoke. One lady I knew had so many candles burning I swore I could not get a deep breath of oxygen in her house and i could hardly wait to get outside to have some air.
Now and then when guests are coming I will light a candle for the ambience., but very rarely. I buy the soy because the ones I do buy (little votives) burn clean down to nothing.

I have a lot of Yankee candles I bought at the country store 12 miles from me. Some of their scents are so nice. I also have others my DS has given me he gets from some of the gift shops that are clients of his at work. He buys them for me for holiday or some occasion. I get some here at the country gift shop not far from me, too. They aren't Yankee, but are nice ones. My favorite Yankee candle is Home Sweet Home. I heard one time some gal burned candles and she had a mess in her house that left her ceilings and woodwork colored and smokie. I don't know what they gave off, but not good. She must've burned an awful lot of them. I have one of those candle warmers that plug in that I sometimes use in my livingroom on a table. I have so many on hand I may as well use them up.
I love to burn candles but I have 2 cats so I have to burn them up on the entertainment center.We are always right there in the same room. It's not worth taking a chance.
Cricket: I have burned soy candles and if you get the 100% soy they are good but you have to watch some people will sell just a soy blend for the same money and they do cost a little more than the reg.
I have even burned candles in the summer if I'm in the house. Love the aroma. I even like Xmas ones when it isn't xmas.
I love candles. Yankee are my favorites, but I have others, too. I don't have any little kids or cats. I am careful about not leaving them unattended, and so far knock on wood, I've never had any problem. DH was a heavy smoker, and back when he used to smoke in the house, I had candles burning all over. I was more concerned with him burning the house down with his slopping smoking than the candles.
A close friend of mine is highly sensative to scent, and even if I don't have the candles burning, just open, she gets the sneezes pretty quick. That is sad.

Last year I had so many pretty glass and other candels in aqua. I had them lined up by my plants and would sit in my rocker when they were lit in the evenings. Then I got sick and realized it was too much! Maybe I will just light one. But only when sitting in the one spot so I won't forget it. Cant' leave the kitchen if I'm cooking on the hot plate. Burned some hard cooked eggs one day. Got them set that day! LOL. Remember getting home from town and Mother had left a kerosene lamp burning. the window was open and so lucky that the curtain didn't set the house on fire! PLT for watching over us. In the 30's that was dad's worst fear. There were many farm houses burned to the ground in the cold winter. Have had 2 other close calls coming back into the house and the kitchen. One, the toast had stuck in the toaster and I have a burn mark under the cabinets. I pulled the plug and took it outside. The other was a toaster oven. I like to make toast and then lay a piece of cheese on it and shut the door. That day I must have turned it back to taost. It was flaming - I shut the door, pulled the plug and took outside. well the is the story of the demise of 3 elect aplliances! The toaster oven is now in the shop. I set it outside when I do some craft clay that gives off ordor when it bakes. Sew, Now I do be careful with all cooking and candles. The warnings were too close!
Yes, I love candles and like to burn one when it gets dark so early in the Winter.
