Ah-ah-ah! Don'tch be a thinkin' like that!!!

We have 8 big windows all around 3 walls of our bedroom. We have bird feeders out the windows across from our bed. So.....We plump up our pillows, sit against our headboard and have our coffee there in the morning. Love watching our birds and planning our day that way. I'm so spoiled.

Just in time for the holidays, DS might be getting laid off

He found out yesterday but I was in bed by the time he got home last night, so I got to hear about it today. I had mentioned last year that his company laid off almost 45% of their workforce on christmas eve day, kind of a bummer since they did not rehire those employees and on christmas eve at that to let your employees go is just rotten, and those left were forced to pick up the work of all those missing workers, which actually meant son made a decent amount of money the beginning of the year, but was working his tail off doing it. Anyhow, he just found out he might be getting laid off before the holidays.

That will be 3 of us here out of work-- not good news. Although at least he has his part time job delivering pizza 3 nights a week, he knew this lay off was bound to happen as the rumors were going around work so found a part time job just in case. He's been working there only 2 weeks though, but its a busy place so hopefully they will keep him on.

Hi to everyone this dreary morning! Friday, the end of the work week for some of you.

Hi to Lil, Kate, Jan, Dee, Gary, Stella; where are all of you. Some haven't tuned in lately......Hi to Elaine, our staunch supporter. Hope all are doing good these days.

Unsure just what I am doing today, but sure I will find something. Must think of something to cook today and change a bed, too. What is everyone else doing today, cooking, baking, cleaning, ????

I did find a small 3 ft. tree for my table in livingroom to decorate. Think that will be our tree in there this year! I haven't ordered a wreath yet I usually buy my DS and wife for their place. I noticed my neighbor has a large one up on their garage between their garage doors; looks nice. First time they have ever put one up. I gave a lot of wreaths away when I was getting rid of some stuff this past Fall. The ones I have ordered, really hold up and are green till Spring on the breezeway door; could decorate for Easter if I wanted to. It just seems so early, but I know it really isn't.

Good evening. Time to start the Friday Nature Post. Today was exceptional. More posts that anytime in the short time I have been doing this. Wonderful. I love the diversity of this thread. I'm heading away from the Washington coast and coming back to Montana. These pictures are from Red Rock Lakes NWR near West Yellowstone. We were visiting our ranger friend and his wife. The difference between Red Rock Lakes and Yellowstone is there are no people here while Yellowstone is probably like driving on the freeway in LA. I'm not sure though as I've never driven on the freeway in LA. I can vouch for the crowds in Yellowstone though. This particular lake is Elk Lake and we had it to ourselves. The men fished and caught beautiful cutthroats while the women sat around in a nice meadow with wildflowers and watched. We even had our own private outhouse as you can see in the background.

Somebody sent me some seeds and mentioned that she was going to do the winter sown deal this winter. Looked it up on the internet. Really sounds interesting. May try a couple things just to see for myself. Wondered if any of you had tried it and how it worked for you.

There won't be much change in the temps today, it is 42 now and the high is to be 52. It wasn't raining when I let the dogs out on chain, but it sure was damp. We have a regular meals delivery today. John is actually thinking of going and sitting in Jerry's treestand tomorrow on opening day in case the other hunters in the area push a deer through our property. He always gets his license even if he doesn't get out there and hunt actively anymore. It must have something to do with the weather forcast.....

Tommytoe, I hope the church has a successful yard sale.

Terry, I don't blame you for liking to be outdoors. That is part of why we enjoy gardening, in season.

Doris, organizing photos -- what a great job. I did our anniversary pics, but there's so many others not done, maybe this winter.

Swordbird, we had a busy day, too, went out shopping when the rain started, and had lunch at a little Greek restaurant on the way home. Always a good meal there.

Dad had horse buggy and 4 extra wheels that are all in our machine shed.

Dad LOVED that buggy and he was so proud of the old wagon wheels that he hung them up on the inside of the machine shed wall and they've been in there forEVER. He never would take them down cuz he liked how they looked there.

Well sis emailed me to take pic of the buggy and the wheels as she has someone interested in buying them.

There's NO WAY I'd sell that stuff. That machine shed just wouldn't look the same without those wheels haning there. I still picture dad when in there... puff'n on his pipe and looking up at those old wagon wheels.

I think she should discuss it with me before offering to sell things of his. It's part of the estate which is in a trust under her and my name.

OT- Saving Seeds

I have a whole new respect for all of you wonderful people who save and share seeds. I have spent the whole afternoon cleaning and bagging only 6 different flower seeds and there are a lot more to go. My hat is off to all of you who have the patience to do that! If they were all as easy as cleome it would be ok. Some are really hard to do and I am not known for my patience. IF I ever get them done I will offer them for anyone who wants them. I do know several I have already promised seed to so they have first choice.

Had an unusual day. Didn't go to work as a good friend of ours passed away and the funeral was at noon today. She babysat for us some when the kids were little, and I did the flowers for her wedding and all 5 of her brothers and sister. DW wasn't feeling good, so she didn't go. The weather was nice. I fixed hamburgers and a salad for lunch. Watched a movie with George Clooney and Michelle Pfeiffer, and now a football game is coming on so will watch part of that before bedtime. Full day of work tomorrow. Thank you all again. Means a lot.

Like I said in my earlier post, I had to go shopping not to think of my poor puppy getting neutered today. I got the H2O mop. My DD drove me crazy this week saying I MUST get it. She swears by it and now with the dog she says that I will love it. It apparently does a great job. My DD is the type of person that digs deep into a product before buying it. This one she said is absolutely fantastic.

Have any of you bought one and what is your opinion. Does it do a good job? Thanks any input will be fun. It won't when I try it and I don't like it.....LOL

in through the door came my youngest daughter, who lives in Mo. and I haven't seen her in three years! She is Safety Director for the Air Traffic Controller's Union and had to come to DC for last week and next so she will spend the weekend with me and I am so happy! Have to cancel some plans for tomorrow but it is worth it. Had to share this with all of you because......well I just HAD to tell someone!

GERANIUM SEEDS Question

Ok I just bought my Geranium seeds . . got a bug after reading a post from Molly I think. Anyway, I'm in Zone 5 and from what I'm reading here and on the net I should start these in January. Is that right? We don't have warm weather until late April and by that I mean pretty safe from frost.

So any help would be appreciated! Thank you to all for this nice new bug I've gotten!!

Unknown duck

There was a duck in our pond a couple of days ago and I could not get a photo of it, but I did get a fairly good look with binoculars, first of all it it not a Mallard as we have two pairs of them, the best I can describe it, looks like a canvassback duck, except the body is all light gray, I did not notice the tail feathers as having black in them either, the head was dark and saw no noticeable band around its neck, it had a funny head movement when it swam, the head moved back and forth like a morning dove walking.

Sorry I was unable to get a photo, but will keep my eyes open and camera at the ready and if it ever shows up again maybe I can post it.

I went today with some coworkers, niece and her cousin. Most of my coworkers are my age (40's) or a little older. There were a lot of "women of a certain age" in the audience, as it was a matinee on a school day. The first time Jacob took off his shirt in the movie, everyone gasped! What a body he has on him. He is only 17, so one could feel a little odd about the "feelings" they might have.

What is Friday night's supper going to be?
